An extra hour of footage couldn't make the climactic battle with Doomsday the slightest bit interesting or necessary. Maybe they could add more explosions. It's sheer tedium.

BTW, Alfred must be thinking he's a huge asshole for trying to convince Batman his dumb spear was a bad idea.

I'm not understanding how they 'buried' superman if they had no body..did Bruce & WW take the body away & back to Kansas? everyone assumes superman died in Doomsdays explosion?(But not the nuke they let off?)

lotta dumb stuff in this film. But this version is still miles better than the original.

Empty coffin funerals are a thing, like when soldiers go missing in the military. That's why WW says "they don't know how to honor him except as a soldier." The Metropolis funeral is a lot of fanfare for the public, while Clark's remains are buried in Kansas at a ceremony for his close friends and family. It's not really made clear whether the government is under the impression that Supes died from that nuke, or if they're aware that he came back to Earth to fight some more before biting it. But it doesn't really matter. Of all the dumb things that are in this movie, that seems like a pretty innocuous one.

Didn't know about the empty coffin thing & the military. Thanks Platy.

another biggest dumbest thing was Lois' press pass..superpass..can go anywhere and do anything with it.

i think the whole handling of lois was poorly done.

in the span of 3 weeks she figured out who superman was due to her "intense" research into the story

i put that down to Amy Adams..miscast completely..

The Lois they had in Superman returns was great.

Are you kidding? Kate Bosworth was horrible for the role. Adams is too soft-spoken in her portrayal of a character that should be a firecracker but I chalk that down to the writing and direction because Amy Adams is a great actress and also my imaginary wife

That's fine, I have no interest in debating the merits of Superman Returns-- I barely remember anything about it, other than Kate Bosworth being completely insipid in the role (and looking about 20 years too young to be a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist with a kid).
