I read somewhere yesterday that an unnamed team offered Stamkos almost 11 million, but for whatever reason he didn't take it. Maybe liked his chances for a cup better in Tampa than in whatever city that was?

Probably the Sabres, and he just didn't want to live in Buffalo.

Was a Subban trade expected? I don't really follow the Habs closely.
There's been talk of a Subban trade since before the draft (mostly to Edmonton or Vancouver), but Bergevin announced that he wasn't being traded, which is funny because there's no way this was an "offer we just couldn't refuse" type of trade. He was obviously trying to trade him all along.
This trade has Michel Therrien written all over it, which I love as a Leafs fan.
Speaking of the Oilers, does anybody else have a hunch that McDavid is going to be a great "what-if" due to injuries? Or is that just me?
I felt that way as soon as I saw the toe-pick leading to the collarbone injury.

Can you blame him?
Not at all.
Seriously though, I'm sure he enjoys living in Tampa - nice weather, and he doesn't have to worry about getting hassled in public all the time, like he would in Toronto or somewhere else.

I think my favourite part of the Hall trade is that the Oilers felt they had a good enough group of young, talented forwards that they could afford to trade one of their best for a defenseman... after finishing 25th, 26th and 26th in scoring the last three years.

Montreal is such a dumpster fire of an organization...amazing they didn't learn anything from the Patrick Roy stuff 20 years ago
