Just a tiny, small, gritty and brave, war movie about Stormtroopers invading by sea, storming the beach, and laying waste to an innocent village. And, again, no fucking dialogue. Maybe some crying.

But that's fucking it.

But for the rest of you awesome nerds out there. What are your true expectations for this? Do you think this movie has a real shot of surpassing the other Star Wars films for you? Are you trying not to think about all that and just see the movie without all that baggage?

Do you want this to be the best Star Wars film so far and what does it mean if it is?
this has been an interesting build up for me. my fandom is at a 20 plus year high and i have a ridiculous amount of goodwill towards the franchise. FA may be my favorite star wars film (though it is easy enough to imagine it being topped) yet i am decidely removed from any anticipation towards this film. with FA at this time i was watching trailers every day.

ill see it opening weekend and im sure ill love it, but im curiously unexcited
it's because you know sequels > prequels. this film is fighting an uphill battle.

You're not wrong. Given the hysterical meltdown cos they were doing reshoots tells us a lot.

Episode 8 is almost wrapped filming. Do these people really think there won't be reshoots for it in the 18 months we have lying in between us and it's release?

They've also never seen the extras discs on the extended LOTR DVDs. They reshot loads of that.

But I agree. It does have an uphill struggle.

I kind of hope all you so called Star Wars "fans" really hate it. Whether it be because it doesn't tie into the universe enough, or whatever. I hope you all hate it so I can have it all for myself. Gareth is amazing and I think this will be great.

I know. I just feel like being grumpy today. I was up late last night after watching GoT finale. I'm still pissed Margery is dead.

Totally understand. You're allowed to be grumpy, friend. Just know that I truly think this is going to be a great movie. I'm not being snarky or shticky or whatever. I'm really excited for it. I think I'm more excited for this than I was for The Force Awakens.

I listened to Collider Jedi Council go on and on and on about whether or not R1 should have the opening crawl. Man, those dudes are adamant that the crawl be there. Tons of "it's so Star Wars" and "but it's just so much a part of that universe" talk going on. Verm would have been beside himself listening to it.

All it did was make me hope beyond hope that the fucking crawl is absolutely NOT there.

We need to begin exterminating nerds. Like, on a mass scale. Just kill them all and destroy the bodies.

It's an established universe. It would tear us all out of the film before it's even started if there isn't a crawl. It's a story DIRECTLY tied into a new hope. There simply has to be a crawl.

They should do no crawl in the beginning, then end the movie with a crawl that tells us what the major characters are doing now.

I just completely disagree.
