Lots of people go to College Football Spring Games too.... some people like watching scrimmages. The Celtics and Lakers have what half of the NBA championships though?
I mean, if you were into watching the 76ers regular seasons... or the Timberwolves summer league or D league games... that's something to brag on right?
You've got decades of stars to fall back on and a pretty interesting team right now with a good coach.

Oh man, bada busted my post to the bottom page of the last page.
Anyway, my point is this: Let's not immediately hand multiple titles to GSW. They still have to play the games!

Completely agree. Although, I am encouraged by the ring chasers they are signing since.Coach wrote:Oh man, bada busted my post to the bottom page of the last page.

Saying KD just wants to win is the same as admiring the ex college ball player at the Y showing up for pickup and taking the first four guys he wants when teams are getting split up. That guy is a real douche....er.... competitor.

Apparently that ex college ballplayer at the Y is now worth 38 million.
I do wonder exactly who they are going to get for the bench and how many minutes they'll all play.

I must have missed the part where LBJ choked a 3-1 lead to the KG Celtics in the conference finals only to sign with them the next year. It's not the same thing.Peeps wrote:i have no problem with KD wanting and going to GSW

And it's not like the speculation of him going to the Warriors started after that series.

Doesn't make it any less shameful in my eyes. It probably makes it even worse. The idea that these guys were texting all season about setting up a superteam as two of the top 3 teams in the west? Pathetic.@SkitchP wrote:verb_to_trust wrote:I must have missed the part where LBJ choked a 3-1 lead to the KG Celtics in the conference finals only to sign with them the next year. So wait, I thought the shame was because of the collapse? But it's worse regardless of the collapse? Make up your mind verb.

Re: NBA Thread
I think this is also an indictment on the RINGS ABOVE ALL ELSE nonsense. Look how LeBron is now a top 2-4 player by almost everybody right now and he wasn't 3 weeks ago. Nothing about LeBron changed in those three weeks. He was incredible before and after. He dominated last year's NBA finals to a similar extent as this year. The difference this year is Kyrie Freaking Irving played great. Better than I think most people thought he could. Oh, and Donkey got suspended in game 5 and Iggy's back was a wreck. But he got that ring so now he's one of the all-time greats. If Kyrie misses that 3 and Steph hits one of his then today LeBron still isn't there.
I've said all this in the past, but as a person who believes championships matter to a much more limited extent when judging individual players who play a team sport than most people, it really drives me crazy. I think KD (rightly) decided that he might be his incredible self for another 8 years and if he doesn't ever win then he's a Malone or Barkley (as if that's such an insult). Or he could go to an insanely great team and not be the reason they win and not win HIS championship, but it'd be better to go join an allstar team and win a ring or four that way than to play anywhere else on a non-historically great team and try to win that way.
I get it, I really do. I think it sucks that he could reasonably feel that way. And I really think people need to reevaluate how they judge players. I think all the amazing stats we have now are pushing us in that direction, but so many people reject them out of hand....
