Songs that frighten you

Post by Jorge »

I could've sworn I'd made this thread before.

I'm listening to Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album and the track "Waking the Witch", which I hadn't listened to in a while, actually scared me at one point.

What are some songs that fill you with dread or anxiety or THE FEAR OF SATAN? Post them.

I don't think there's a single song I've heard that fills me with dread or anxiety. Or the fear of Satan. I'll have to think on it.

The live version of "I Crawled" by Swans always freaks me out a bit

Billie Holiday's version of "Gloomy Sunday", probably because of a combination of the song's reputation as the "Hungarian suicide song" and Billie's own sad history

"Hamburger Lady" by Throbbing Gristle. Actually pretty much anything by Throbbing Gristle.

When I was a kid I was very unsettled by that KoRn song about Jonathan Davis's father raping him which ended with him screaming and sobbing for like 5 minutes after the music ended

I once went to this concert with a friend: King Diamond, Nile, Black Dahlia Murder, and Behemoth. I was scared the whole fucking time.

The spoken word part at the end of Thriller scared me silly as a child. When it got to that point I would always turn it off.

It's not really about his Dad. "However, Jonathan has gone on record in many interviews saying he wrote the song about a family friend who sexually abused him. He said that when he tried to turn to his family as a child to tell them about the abuse, they shrugged it off and didn't believe him. Davis revealed many years later that it was a female babysitter who had molested him."

Okay well whatever maybe he shouldn't have named the song "DADDY" if he didn't want people to think it was about his dad
