I really don't give a shit about the original thread title, any of that. I'm arguing the cases that compelled someone to climb on top of a building and murder cops. This is not my delicate liberal sensibilities at stake, I don't give a shit about that. We are at 10 minutes to midnight on a race war right now. This shit is serious and has to be addressed.

I too am a liberal. Pretty liberal in fact, but I demand evidence before forming an opinion and most of what is in this thread is far from that. It's the same tired bullshit about the police being out to kill black folk when the evidence does not bare this out. If you disagree, show me some evidence that backs the claim or stop making it because this race war ( which ain't happening, people are not as evil as you think) is predicated on people repeating the story until, much like shark attacks at beach, people think the tragedies are happening everyday. (And no, there is no acceptable number of people of any race that cops can maliciously kill.)

Martin, Garner, Sandra Bland, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, etc. over the last two years, plus horrible tragedies on consecutive days culminating in the worst loss of law enforcement lives since 9/11 isn't enough evidence for you that something is deeply wrong? The evidence is staring us all in the face, or apparently as of last night, shooting policeman execution style from the tops of buildings. What else has to happen for major changes in policing policies, as well as gun control? Didn't you just say there's reports that another Dallas might be in the works? And this is ok with you?

I had this long response written. with charts and stats and such. But I'll simply say, I respect your opinion and I truly hope this last time we have to post about events like this past week.

In the past 24 hours there have been 7 shootings I believe resulting in deaths in my lovely town (actually a town I just moved out of, but still frequent often)

They weren't murdered by cops either.. no media to make a big stink about that tho

Question for military/ police folks: does 'riot gear' provide much if any ballistic protection? I'm guessing there isn't ceramic level iv armor in there, but are those hard plastic shin guards/ arm guards backed by kevlar or anything of that nature?

Also I get there's asshole cops that are shitty at their jobs and should be held accountable, but the way the media is portraying it they're making them look like this huge racist asshole organization.. where the bulk of them are just a bunch of good people trying their best to protect us and earn a living to feed their families

There are a lot of good cops, but that still doesn't make them the type of people I'd want to be friends with. It takes a certain kind of power hungry basket case to be a cop. They are the worst. Mainly, this thread is for when they abuse their power or murder people, however.

I'd imagine there's way more good cops than bad ones.. but the bad ones stand out..

So you couldn't be friends with a cop because they're a cop?? That doesn't make sense.. I became friends with a lot of these guys before I even knew they were cops or before they became cops because they were good people.. and I stayed friends because they continue to be good people

Do I know power hungry cops?? Yea.. and I don't particularly like em.. they don't go shooting people but they do other things I'm not so fond of.. dudes still go out everyday and put their lives on the line tho, I'll give em that

There's some truth to this, but it's an extreme over generalization that I'm sure also varies by geography.
