Looks like this show may be getting a little Oz-like next week.

Ok I was all in with everything that's been said here until the step dad appeared. Another element to the story and a shift in possibility but he seems to have more to gain from her death than anything. And it sorta looks like he was known to the cops? When he goes in to see the photos/identify the body. Seems like they knew him. Crime boss or something? Was it him she was trying to get away from in the cab? Was she being followed by someone he hired-meaning the guy on the bike?
Great tv though. Really engaging. Didn't really buy the lead cops sudden switch to knowing Naz was guilty with the DA. Up to that point he seemed to know there was something missing to make a case and he doesn't really seem to think Naz is capable of it. The other guys surprised reaction In the dock with Naz when the charges are read out was good too.

Re-watching episode 2.
-The blood on the deer has to be important, right? It was focused on in Ep 1, then it's the first shot of Ep 2. How did that blood splatter get there when she was killed upstairs.
-I love the texture/atmosphere of how Pauline keeps crossing Naz's path.

-Actually there's a second shot of the deer in this episode. Very interesting.
-Some people think the fuzzy shots that open the episode are the killer's POV as Naz and Andrea are hanging out. Nah, it's just Naz's fuzzy memory--as Stone begins to concoct his own story, Naz will begin to doubt these memories.

-What's that reporter going to put in the paper that Box doesn't know yet? Something about Andrea's past or about the police's investigative technique? They've already bungled a few steps in the process, but it has to get out somehow for it to mean anything to the plot.
-I saw this somewhere else, so it's not original to me: I sure do hope that Box is named for "the box, where we match wits against the city’s master criminals."
-I read that article Spike posted and my mind was just blown that the crime scene photographer is Greg? from Flight of the Conchords.

I noticed in tonight's credits that this show is based off the BBC series "Criminal Justice." Anyway, it appears to be following the plot of the first season, so spoilery but if you're curious:

I thought it was nice to have an episode more about character work than investigation. Although the cat stuff was obviously important.
I knew this was based on a British show, but I'm staying far away from that until this is over.

No; it's a lot like Ghostbusters.

That was some scary shit. What's going on now though with the lawyer situation?
Can't figure out if that be one really wants to help him or not or if its self serving?

I think it's pretty obvious that Crowe wants the case to further her career, probably also to make a racial/religious bias case against the NYPD that she can use as leverage in future cases. The way she used her associate as a prop is a pretty big red flag that we're not supposed to trust her, as opposed to Stone, who has been nothing but "honest" (as honest as a defense lawyer can be) from the start. It's obvious why Naz's parents were so quick to dump him--it's tough to turn down "free"--but Stone's gotta eat, I don't think we're supposed to read it as a black mark on his character.dimejinky99 wrote:That was some scary shit. If I had to guess: Stone is going to find something that could possibly break the case (perhaps having to do with the cat--he's gotta figure it out in 10 days, though), and he's going to offer to represent Naz for free. Since he's not a minor, it's his decision alone who will represent him, so he can easily dump Crowe for Stone when the time comes for him to come back.
