I had watched most of the convention until last night, when I only caught most of Trump. Aren't those speeches supposed to be upbeat & optimistic instead of dark & gloomy? It was like he was running for mayor of Gotham City instead of President.

For the 10's of millions of Americans whose jobs were destroyed by globalization or immigration, shit's not exactly coming up roses. If the Dems would stop calling all these people racists for 5 minutes and listen to their issues, we could probably get rid of Floppsie and his clown brigade.

Unemployment is at 4.9% which is the lowest its been in a decade.

Quoting the U3 as an argument showes you have no idea what you are talking about nor what I was talking about.

The U6 trends nearly identical to U3. The numbers are just bigger because it is creating a more holistic view. So the massive downtrend in unemployment starting in 2010 is as clear using that marker as on the U3.

Sure. But that was about beginning understanding the meaning of the statistic vs. typing "us unemployment rate" into google. The next step is to pull that number apart and begin to understand changes in those trend lines for Trump's supporters demographics.

This is more relevant than unemployment numbers when describing the problems Western middle class faces.

They notice when it's an endorsement that's counter to their preferred candidate.

On the Hillary side... I mean, I can't think of a less trustworthy less likeable person in politics. It's kind of interesting that really either one can seemingly go around, do anything, say virtually anything and there is no recourse. No matter what these two people are going to have big fans.

Stuff like this blows my mind. The fact that people can still try to imply that there's some sort of moral or political equivalence between Clinton and Trump really is amazing.

In that they are both generally horrible people? Yes.

I don't think she has a moral fiber in her body.

He's a salesman, he's pretty obviously full of shit when he wants something. Clinton is one of the least genuine people in the entire world. I really wonder if she uses a focus group to decide what toothpaste to use.

Clinton is going to be the president, barring something crazy happening, because she's going to maintain status quo, I'm not sure anyone including Trump knows what he'd really do if he won. Governments aren't run like businesses and this one is specifically built to limit his kind.

I can't Bart understand why anyone would like either of these humans. Everyone's got their reasons for how they vote. I've been a 3rd party guy for a long time, but this is an awful election cycle, either way we're stuck with a smug arrogant ruthless jerk as the president.

Times like this make me realize I don't know much about Clinton, other than that she was the principal author of our Iran sanctions, probably thinks email is magic, was betrayed by her husband, and some idiots think she has magical murder powers.

By comparison, I know a billion little details about Donald Trump, and even the smallest, simplest one (makes false claims about major American historical events in order to build up buzz for a golf course) makes him look putrid to me.
