Old Man Sanders wrote:I understand that many people here in this convention hall and around the country are disappointed about the final results of the nominating process. I think it’s fair to say that no one is more disappointed than I am. But to all of our supporters – here and around the country – I hope you take enormous pride in the historical accomplishments we have achieved.

Together, my friends, we have begun a political revolution to transform America and that revolution – Our Revolution – continues. Election days come and go. But the struggle of the people to create a government which represents all of us and not just the 1 percent – a government based on the principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice – that struggle continues. And I look forward to being part of that struggle with you.

...

It is no secret that Hillary Clinton and I disagree on a number of issues. That’s what this campaign has been about. That’s what democracy is about. But I am happy to tell you that at the Democratic Platform Committee there was a significant coming together between the two campaigns and we produced, by far, the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party. Among many other strong provisions, the Democratic Party now calls for breaking up the major financial institutions on Wall Street and the passage of a 21st Century Glass-Steagall Act. It also calls for strong opposition to job-killing free trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Our job now is to see that platform implemented by a Democratic Senate, a Democratic House and a Hillary Clinton presidency – and I am going to do everything I can to make that happen.

Even though he lost, his success forced the party to adopt many of his ideas. His impact on the party not only pulled it further to the left than it ever has been, but he made Hillary Clinton a much better candidate. So, while he didn’t win the nomination, in a lot of ways, he still won the battle of ideas by making sure many of the policies he wants enacted and supported by the party became part of its platform. As a result, we now have what Bernie Sanders himself has called the “most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic party.” There are many ways to “win” in politics. He didn’t become the Democratic nominee, but Bernie Sanders was still victorious in numerous ways which have been a betterment for both the Democratic party and the nation as a whole.

Now it's my turn to be cynical: I'll believe that he's had the stated impact when I actually see some progressive policies come to fruition. Until then, these sorts of sentiments ring as entirely hollow vote-baiting.
I don't think you are being cynical, I think you are being a realist. Hillary's selection of Tim Kaine as VP indicates that despite whatever the official 'platform' is, she is planning to walk back towards the center in order to win. It's politically smart for her to pay lip service to the progressives at the convention so they can rationalize abandoning Bernie to vote for her and then distance her self from the economic and geopolitical illiteracy of the Sanders campaign over the next few weeks or until she feels she has a critical mass of them on her side.

And just in case you were wondering who the fascists are, here's some of the #FeelTheBern crowd in Philly:

This is exactly what he should be saying.

With the exception of a brief period when Bernie & Co. thought the nomination was within reach, this was the plan all along. It's already been said, repeatedly. Prime time convention speeches (or any of them, for that matter) are not the place for this stuff. Hillary and the party seem to be doing their part to embrace the Sanders wing. As of now, they deserve the benefit of the doubt. The country is changing, and no matter what you think of Hillary or Dems, they aren't stupid. They know they have to change too. If Hillary and the party begin to go back on this stuff in September, or next year, then we have an argument and should resume fighting. People who agree with Bernie got a lot out of this process. Let's not destroy that progress simply because we didn't get it all.

I think that the Pro-HRC group is playing this entirely wrong. The fact is, the vast majority of Bernie supporters are going to vote for HRC no matter what. But this YOU ARE BEING IRRESPONSIBLE! thing is only going to disenfranchise so many of them. They want to be heard and understood. If you pretend like you're listening, and let them have their anger, by november that anti-HRC resentment will largely disappear.

Instead you're beating them over the head telling them what they need to do and trying to silence them. That's only going to make them fight back louder.

the difference is Trump is completely incompetent and has no clue how to run a country, believes the national enquirer is legit reporting, and a million other reasons. At least the clintons know how the world works and can run a government.

Nobody is saying HRC is clean. Most people are pissed that these are the 2 choices. Alas, its a no brainer here.

Since we're electing TV stars now, can we elect Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in 2020?

Except SCOTUS appointments are for life, so there's no undoing them. Even with Kanye.

Honestly at this point, if I was voting - I'd probably be going Jill Stein all the way.
