I think the problem for me is that it tries to be the Goonies, but the characters are just nuts. Where The Goonies were forced to keep going because they were being chased by murderers, these kids have no reason to do what they do. They are like "hey lets go on this wacky adventure!" when everything around them is saying "Tell your parents and get the fuck out of town!"

And don't get me started on
Spoiler: show
that older sister and the tree, or wtf the cop planned on doing in the secret base. Jesus H. Christ.
Too much bad character motivation for me.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I feel you and it annoyed me too but I thought it still fit the vibe of those 80's movies and went with it. Main characters having dubious victories over the bad guys despite plot holes was my childhood!

Watching the first episode and this doesn't seem very good at all.

Like it's not really retro?

As in it doesn't legitimately, convincingly sound like the music it's emulating. It's a hip, modernized, self-aware version.

Another predictable nonsense response. Have you even watched more than one episode in order to formulate your very valuable opinion?

Knew my boyfriend would love this but when I get excited about something he's usually really reluctant.

He watched episode one with me last night and was totally in by the end of it:) watched two more :)

Episode 3 takes a giant leap forward. I enjoyed 1 & 2. They didn't totally blow me away. There were more than a few clunky moments. But #3 was really great. Tense. Gorgeous. Wonderfully shot. Dripping with atmosphere. I dig it.
