Re: Albums of 2016
Yep, I'm a fan of that Car Seat Headrest album too. Also:
Vince Clarke & Paul Hartnoll - 2Square
"Erasure and Orbital boffins joinn forces for light-hearted electro hoedown.
Sometimes it takes a couple of old-stagers to show the youngsters how to cut loose. Having started out at a time when electronics were a tool for making interesting pop rather than brutally standardised dance music, Clarke and Hartnoll are unafraid to embrace elements that current techno sentinels might consider fatally cheesy. There are parping trumpet hooks and big rave chords aplenty, yet everything is rendered with a depth and richness you'd expect from two men who know their machines inside out. Make a semi-ironic video of LA rollergirls dancing to "All Out" and these 2 could even find themselves with a surprise summer hit."
Fun album, easy listen.

Re: Albums of 2016
El Ten Eleven put out their first "mixtape" recently, though it's really just a cool collection of some B-sides, including a couple covers, and a live track and video.
Only two tracks can be streamed at that Bandcamp link, but the whole thing can be downloaded for free from their website.
Nice for fans, though it's easy to see why most of these were left off any previous albums.

Listening to Xenia Rubinos' album Black Terry Cat this afternoon. Very smooth, very good. The musicians sure know their shit. Worthwhile checking out.
Here's the lead track "Don't Wanna Be".

Elizabeth Cook has been around for a while, bumping around Nashville. Her album Exodus of Venus is an excellent stew of hard-edged, dark and dreamy country, best listened to with a whiskey rocks at your side. Durden - I think you'd like this one, but really anyone who appreciates good songwriting, honestly and confidently delivered should give it a spin.

The Car Seat Headrest album is kicking my ass.
Destroyed By Hippie Powers is a wonderful song.

Re: Albums of 2016
Someone posted earlier (or in another thread? Not sure) about the new DJ Shadow album. I have enjoyed it more than I thought I would to be honest, solid stuff indeed. This is great in particular:

I dont know if this is any good or not, but they win for the album title alone.

Re: Albums of 2016
So far, the best album of 2016 is 2015's '3' by HoneyHoney.
