This gifts us the beautiful ease of scorn, where otherwise there would only be madness.
This could be my favorite McP post.

Re: Election 2016
I'm not so sure Trump really wants to be President. I starting to believe the theory he's been trying to self sabotage his campaign almost since the beginning. War heroes don't get captured, Megyn Kelly/Fox News feud to the point he sits out a debate, making fun of the handicapped, blatantly copying material from racist websites, repeated inconsistencies, refusing to releases his tax statements, saying women who have abortions should be punished, even going so far as accusing an opponent's father being involved in the JFK assassination. He realized he's in over his head & tried to torpedo his poll numbers so he could gracefully bow out before getting the nomination. It was widely reported that Kasich turned down his VP offer that allowed Kasich to be in charge of both domestic & foreign policy.
Unfortunately the GOP electorate couldn't figure out the emperor had no clothes and the con got too big for Trump to pull the plug.

States probably have different ballot rules on vacancies that don't arise from force majeure. It could be a real clusterfuck for the GOP if he did that.

Re: Election 2016
I remember during one of those CNN Town Halls he did a while back, he also gave a rambling and almost incoherent response on the role of the federal government in health care and education. I was so mad that Anderson Cooper didn't probe him on that. He didn't know what he was talking about.Strat wrote:This is how the donald will "debate". and this is how he will fail. he can' tput together a coherent thought or take a position on anything.
and his supporters won't give two shits.

Moody's Analytics released a report on Hillary's & Trump's economic plans. While non-partisan it does implicitly favor Clinton's. To which the Trump camp blasted the report when it came out, pointing out that lead author Mark Zandi, chief economist for Moody’s Analytics, is a registered Democrat who has donated money to Hillary Clinton.
Nevermind that Trump has been a registered Democrat as late as '09 and contributed to Hillary in '02, '05, '06, and '07 as well as to the Clinton Foundation
