Yeah, I don't think there's anything to be read into the song descriptions (either stylistically speaking or quality-wise). You could probably describe the songs on most Pearl Jam albums exactly the same way. It'll just be a matter of if they do it well this time or not.

That being said, it IS nice to be able to feel confident that this album will be out in the next few months.

What do we all consider as Pearl Jam's best 'really fast song'?

I guess it depends what qualifies.

Maybe "Whipping"

I'm pretty sure STBC is the fastest, so I guess I'd say that.

Other than that, Habit, Hail Hail, Brain of J, Whipping. Um... yeah.

I'll hope for a Hail Hail but settle for a Whipping

I just don't think he has the snarling tenor he used to have. I'm pretty sure we'll get an awkward screech. I hope not.

Does Go qualify as really fast? Or is that just regular fast?

He could quite easily sing in the style of Hail Hail nowadays. In fact I wish he would.

Na, it's not really punk fast. It's funky and aggressive but slower than the others in tempo.

I know what you mean. It's frustrating to listen to old songs in a range that Ed could sing in now, and yet he constantly eschews the firmest path.

It's quite a bit faster than 'Go'.

I didn't say either of them are 'that fast'. But they are both faster than Go.

As far as tempo is concerned, it's not. And as far as the rest goes, the guitar riff and drum pattern make Go feel faster... To me anyway.

Yes it is. It feels faster to you, as you say, because it's more aggressive. But tempo-wise Habit is definitely faster. This is a mistake that 'PJ' is almost certainly making. I'm not expecting a very fast song.

I just tapped them both out in Pro Tools. The tempo is almost identical.
