If you’re feeling good about life, steer clear of any of the movies on this list. These are 25 films that will leave you raw, empty, and in desperate need of a shower.

Doesn't surprise me that I have seen 17 of the 25.
My favorites are probably Dancer in the Dark, Requiem for a Dream, Oldboy, Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father and Happiness.

I've seen 16 of them (and the remake of Funny Games) and the only one of them that disturbed me was Salo. One of the ones I haven't seen is A Serbian Film, which from what i've heard might do it.
The movie not on the list that disturbed me the most was Kids. Despicable, unlikable, obnoxious characters - and the last scene has stayed me with me since. Every time I see Chloe Sevigny, I think about that scene and how it turned my stomach.

A Serbian Film will disturb you, for sure.
Kids is a good pick also, should be there.

I was surprised how many of them I'd seen. I'd add Bad Boy Bubby to that list. Will never have any desire to see that again

I can't say that disturbed me anywhere near as much as the other movies on this list I've seen

I just wiki'd A Serbian Film - I feel unclean having just read that. Not so surprisingly - it's banned over here

Four here*, but yes, you can keep that kind of business. Not my thing.

About half of those are really great movies.
I'd add a few to the list. Like The Rebellion of Red Maria, Vic and Flo Saw a Bear, Help Me Eros, Germany: Year Zero, Accattone, At Ellen's Age, Meat...
A Hijacking was pretty fucking devastating, too.

I watched the Woman because of this list and it was the first one I found on Netflix randomly picking from the list. I found it more humorous than faith destroying.
I wanted to see that documentary to the son about his father. But didn't see it on Netflix.
