The ending is depressing, but I guess it's better than these two terrible people driving off happily into the sunset. They kind of deserve sad lives.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Nightcrawler is so fucking good.

Watched Nightcrawler again last night, 'coz Mrs. Trag hadn't seen it. I loved it even more the second time around. The characters are just so great. Gyllenhaal and Russo both totally own their parts, and Lou's sidekick rings totally true -- there are a ton of lost souls in LA just like him. And the whole film does a very admirable job of feeling creepy and scummy without ever going too far. I love that the score often has an Explosion In the Sky/Friday Night Lights triumphant sort of vibe on top, with some sort of discordant synth sounds underneath; it's a cool way to illustrate that Lou sees his path as one of accomplishment and positive growth, despite how bankrupt his motivations really are.

Loved Nightcrawler..i should watch it again. The cinematography was great.
