The visuals were outstanding. But ultimately the obvious and sort of cornball nature of the main theme left me wanting a bit more. My wife really didn't like it, at all. I tried to defend it a bit as we discussed the movie but ultimately, I think it's his low point, so far. It's a movie I'll definitely revisit down the line. It's not a disaster. But I wanted more and expected better.

Interstellar is a great journey with a completely miserable payoff, which makes it both irritating and miles beyond 90% of big budget movies today. Except when they reflect on how much okra there is left in the world.

DKR is a bunch of really great scenes mixed in with a much larger bunch of well-directed, poorly-written nonsense, which doesn't merge at all.

Batman Begins is an ok movie that is mostly a promise to producers.

Otherwise the guy is fucking fantastic.

It had a lot going for it. But it could have and should have been better. But man I've seen so much worse. Beating up in Interstellar feels like beating up on the sci-fi kid in the lunch room who has a Rainbow Brite lunchbox. The kid's not bothering anybody. Leave him alone! That jock over there is literally trying to rape a girl. Know what I mean?

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The Dark Knight Rises certainly has editing/plotting/pacing issues. But I didn't find that to be true of Inception, The Prestige or Insomnia.
