I started probably 5 or 6 years ago with the bugle and a few npr podcasts that I would listen to on the way to work. These days I listen to tons of podcasts because I can listen at work as well. Right now I listen to :

Pistol shrimps radio
Never not funny (some weeks, depending on the guest)
Mysterious universe
Comedy bang bang
Hollywood handbook
Common sense with Dan carlin
Hardcore history
Football weekly
Football ramble
High and mighty
The best show
I was there too
Improv 4 humans
Spontaneanation

I think in the last three months I've only listened to Radiolab, More Perfect (the Radiolab spinoff about the US Supreme Court), a few episodes of How Did This Get Made and the Oh No Ross and Carrie investigation on Scientology. I want to get back to listening to more podcasts but most of the time I just prefer listening to music.

I don't know how anyone has enough time in their life to listen to the clip you posted before tommy. That just drowned on and on about the same meta-nothingness joke forever and ever.

listened to this one about the Snowtown Murders. I'm not into serial killer stuff, and after listening to this I'm still not, but holy hell what a gorefest. Those wacky Aussies.

There have been more than a few episodes that I would classify as "some of the most fucked up shit I've ever listened to." Hearing human beings die on tape, for example. Just genuinely fucked up.

But there are other episodes that are so engaging and don't cross any of those lines. And I love that it's basically told by the people who lived the experience/9-11 calls/etc. I love that the host largely stays out of it.

It's not for everyone but it's compelling as shit.

The recent death row episode was fantastic. The episode I mentioned earlier with the necrophiliac pedophiles was very creepy. The way they reenacted the chat logs with those robotic voices was pretty unsettling.

I was listening at work through a Bluetooth speaker so I had to turn it off for fear of my coworkers judgement.

That's the episode I had to tell my wife to turn off while I was in the car with her. It made me nauseous.
