I get that. But I'm not just talking about internet chatter. I'm talking to/with people who do kno how movies are made and understand the ins and outs of marketing and money and all of that. And some of them are starting to worry, too. They're much calmer than the internet hordes, for sure. But even some insiders are starting to wonder.

But, you're right. That list is impressive. And I'm going to try and relax about it. It's really the Suicide Squad story that has me all bent out of shape all of a sudden.

I hope you're right. And keep going! You're doing a decent job of talking me down from the ledge. What else?
I think the last 8 movies released by Disney were

Age of Ultron
Inside Out
Ant-Man
Force Awakens
Zootopia
The Jungle Book
Civil War
Find Dory

That's a pretty staggering set of films if you're anyone other than LV. Until they fuck something up I would just assume they know what they're doing, over acontextualized internet rumors endlessly discussed by hordes of overbearing nervous fans who have little understanding of how the process of movie making works and are desperate to have something to talk about until the movie actually drops.
This company is single-handedly murdering pop art

Don't blame disney for David Ayer's problems.
I blame the braindead, aesthetically clueless fanboys who love Disney

If suicide squad was killed by anything it was deadpool.
Which was Marvel. It's all part of the same machine to me.

Sounds like Suicide Squad killed itself.

It's a Marvel comic. Not a Marvel movie in the sense you hate.

Different film company though. I wonder how that works, actually. In terms of how much control/input/advice the comic book side has with the various film companies

If you start your big push that's an obnoxious pace to have to keep up for that long. The only advantage to a long campaign is building up awareness. If there is one property in the universe that does not need that help it's star wars.
Building awareness but also clarity. Making sure the more casual fans understand this isn't Episode 8.

Im sure the crawl will take care of that.

About the crawl for 8. Heard a great theory the other day. It's just simply going to explain kylo was medivacced off Starkiller and has returned to Snoke. The resistance is gathering from arise the galaxy and Finn is still in a coma but meanwhile on that island...

What opening shot they go with is the big mystery.

Yeah Marvel didn't produce Deadpool. Also it's dumb to blame the fans for WB being chickenshit and messing up their property instead of sticking to their convictions. The buck stops with them.

The ironic thing is Fox did Deadpool which was about the most faithful comic book movie yet they also produced the totally faith-less X-franchise and FF movies.

Of course it does. But they only panicked because of the dumb fanboy backlash over BVS.

The BvS backlash went far beyond fanboys, though. It's unfair and disingenuous to blame one group of fans when it was so widely disliked.

You're right. I actually came close to removing "fanboys" from that post before I posted it.

I understand, friend. They can be insufferable. But so can everyone. It's the whole notion of "being faithful" to the comics that gets my head a-aching. Comics aren't "faithful" to the characters over time. That needs to stop being a criticism for these films. They have bigger problems.

I do agree that if there wasn't such a weirdly toxic fan environment around these fucking comic book movies things would likely be different. I don't know to what extent.

I consider myself a person that would like fidelity to a source. However, it doesn't have to be slavishly faithful. I would just like the characters to be written, acted and directed like the characters. I think if the studios ( yeah, my finger's pointed to Fox and WB movies) would actually allow that to happen, the movies would be better and better received. In my opinion, this is why Marvel has had the successes they've had in both their films and TV shows. The characters are very well represented. BvS had Wonder Woman as the most faithful in that movie. Superman shouldn't even have been called Superman he was so far off the mark. Batman was VERY close, but when he killed those dudes, that put him over the line. Killing the badguys is what we, in the real world, would do. Superheroes are supposed to be above that. They are what we aspire to.

WB and DC's shows they have on TV are a much better product than their movies have been. And they are closer to what the characters actually are. I don't think that's coincidence.
