Shower thought today: we're only 11 years away from 2027. If the Yankees are atrociously bad in 2027--say they go 52-110--does the meaning of the phrase "Well, they're not the '27 Yankees" totally flip?

It's cute that you guys think ANY of us will still be here, alive, on this planet in 2027 after __________ is elected president later this year.

Old hat for many of you, I'm sure, but tonight I will be at Safeco Field to see the M's retire #24.

I cannot wait. This is going to be a bucket list type of event for sure. Griffey's will be the first number retired in franchise history.

I predict in the next 5-10 years they also retire:
Edgar Martinez
Jay Buhner
Randy Johnson
Ichiro Suzuki

Ichiro wore Johnson's #51 but otherwise the other numbers haven't been reissued.

He was a huge fan of either Randy Johnson or Bernie Williams, can't remember for sure. Anyway, most people will probably remember RJ for his time with Arizona. He won a lot of cool shit there.

The New York Yankees have announced that Alex Rodriguez will play his final game Friday then assume a position as a special adviser and instructor with the team.

Following Friday's game, Rodriguez will be unconditionally released by the Yankees from his player contract in order to sign a contract to serve as a special adviser and instructor with the Yankees through December 31, 2017.

Retiring Buhner's number will be entirely dependent on if the team is good or not. If they dont need bullshit promotions to draw fans his number wont be retired.

Ichiro was hard to connect with as a fan because, while capable enough, he rarely spoke English.

Which is too bad because I feel like he's got a great sense of humor.

Fielders career is being cut short due to fatness. Probably could have played at least two or three more years if he didn't love food so much.
