I doubt they had to work anything out with him, he has a songwriting credit for every song on Vs and most on Vitalogy. Angel's no different.hlniv wrote:So, why trot this song out now and not any time in the last 22 years? Obviously because of Dave A, but they had to have worked out some deal with him, right? He's got a personal songwriting credit for it, correct? This is already been played on Sirius a shitload of times and they're going to release it with the official bootlegs.

I still believe something is going on with Dave A. The fact that ed would even mention him and say they are thinking of him leads me to believe something is up. or maybe they are trying to rekindle for the RoR HOF.

There is no such thing as a "best show" anymore. There are your average shows, which maintain a really high standard, and then shows that take it up a notch. We all have our personal favorites, of course. Last night, they took it up a notch, as I'm sure they did on Friday as well. I just can't imagine someone leaving unsatisfied last night. They played everything from Angel to In Hiding to Betterman. How else do you please 35-40k people for 3 hours? That was what I'd expect from a show like this, and I do think it belongs with what by now is a long list of notable shows.

Oh yeah, it's definitely curious that they've started acknowledging him out of the blue and I wouldn't be surprised if a deisre to smooth over any tensions ahead of their (presumed) RRHoF induction is part of it.
Though Matt returning to Soundgarden full time and freeing up the Pearl Jam drum stool is a dream of mine too, no way would they think about inviting Dave back.
Jack, maybe.
Matt Chamberlain would be amazing and I'm still sore that PJ/SG got this the wrong way around a few years ago.
If they performed with Dave at the RRHoF, any bet it would be in tandem with Matt and Jack like the Red Hot Chili Peppers did - Even Flow with all three drummers and a drum solo in the middle, I can see it now.

Don't let people who are sad they weren't there sully your experience. That was my 51st show, it was amazing. The GOAT is the one you enjoyed the most, not some ever shifting consensus on an Internet message board.

They wrote Evil Little Goat after they took his picture.

This is going to be a weird boot to listen to with all the guests who were allowed to take the mic, from Tom Hamilton to Youk to Dick the doorman. I wonder if anything will be edited out (all the stuff about Polaroids was also very visual).

I dunno...if the big personality conflict between Ed and DaveA was the whole rock star thing, well, Ed doesn't really have a leg to stand on at this point over that stupidity...I don't see Soundgarden being a full time thing ever again, an album every 4-5 years, a tour every 2-3 years and that's about it...so I can't see a situation where Dave is brought back into the fold permanently...but an occasional guest spot for Go or Angel etc? Why the hell not? Let's face it, Irons fucked over the band in 98 pretty badly, if the band can get over that (with literally millions of dollars on the table for a tour already booked), there's no reason to believe Dave and them can't eventually rekindle some sort of relationshipBirds in Hell wrote:Oh yeah, it's definitely curious that they've started acknowledging him out of the blue and I wouldn't be surprised if a deisre to smooth over any tensions ahead of their (presumed) RRHoF induction is part of it.

Dave's also posted some really nice comments about his time in the band on one of his facebook pages recently too...he posted Garden from Seattle 93 and said something like "just revisited this, damn that band was something to be reckoned with" or something along those lines

I just heard part of night 1 on Sirius, including the polaroid story, and it was weird not having the visual.Simple Torture wrote:This is going to be a weird boot to listen to with all the guests who were allowed to take the mic, from Tom Hamilton to Youk to Dick the doorman.
