Ren wanting to be dark and "being seduced" by the light is super compelling to me, though. And I really hope that happens.
I like that they can flip it on its head like this. I remember conversation about these new characters and exploring what is actually good, or what is actually evil, and that its not a black and white issue.
Star Wars needs more ambiguity. I love that. It's the anti-Greedo shot first mentality.

Han didn't shoot first.

Hans was the only shot.

What Dime said. Fucking Greedo never had the chance to shoot.

You can tell which wallet is Han's. It's the one that says "bad mother fucker" on it.

No way in hell these movies will do anything as potentially interesting as Rey going to the dark side. She will have a very straightforward hero's journey.

We'll see. I won't be surprised either way. There's more than one compelling way to tell this story. But I think it would be a fun "twist" on the thing we've seen before. Rey's popularity probably prevents a full dark side turn. But there's plenty of reason to believe that they could start her down that road before and have her get to the very edge before falling.

With how much shit they've already gotten for "recycling" the OT, I'd fucking LOVE it if they tried (as a tongue in cheek joke) to shoehorn something like this into the movie. Hilarious.

Go further. Kylo falls for Rey hard, but she hates him. That'd see him go into an angry psycho tailspin for real rather than the petulant wannabe he sorta currently is.

I'm not worried about this film. And this is supposed to be the weird one. I am worried about 9. Just don't know how this gets wrapped up. And presumably what seeds are sown for a trilogy to follow.

Luke's a goner anyways we know that. Interesting idea I heard is that Snoke was rendered as a CGI character so they can use him indefinitely in future trilogies. He possibly is the dark power in the force outside the galaxy that the emperor sensed and wanted to contact or exploit. So maybe he's super ultra powerful. He has seen the empire & palpatine&vader rise and fall.

When will that trilogy be? Another ten years time?

I should have posted this in the random brain go it thread B made me.

But seriously. This isn't gonna have the 'happy ending' the OT did. It's gonna leave loads of fertile space to play in in another trilogy. That's annoying. It'll be at least a 5 year wait. Possibly 10
