Radiohead... Bonnaroo 2006 mastered SBD... you need this

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

It's as though each song was remastered seperately and then crudely stuck back together. I wouldn't call it "professional" by any stretch of the imagination. It's too bad when these kinds of recordings wind up in the hands of hacks who fancy themselves engineers.
Oh? That fucking sucks. I've only dropped in and heard individual tracks so far, I hadn't had the chance to listen to the whole thing.

If you look at the waveform, everything is brickwalled but the levels have been lowered differently from track to track. It looks ridiculous. There are cuts and weird level jumps all over the place...sometimes at a track change, sometimes not. Look no further than the beginning of the show...the intro going into There There. Most of these glitches happen between songs, but there is an unfortunate one at the beginning of the "rain down" section in Paranoid Android. The second encore break fades in, fades out and then fades back in again for no apparent reason. I can live with the remastering work, but in terms of editing/continuity, it's a mess. It seems to me that the worst uploads always contain the sentence "I've been an audio engineer for 20 years..." somewhere in the description.

Nobody wants to seem ungrateful, so I doubt anything will be done about it, if it's even talked about at all.

yeah some of this stuff bothered me, too, when i listened. but given this didn't exist before, it wasn't worth harping about it- it's still better than anything else we have.

i kind of suspect he released it this way on purpose, as a personal stamp to make sure it couldn't possibly be attributed to someone else. it got the music out there, but in a way where it's obvious where it came from. it also keeps interest out there for a better, more formal release.

of course i could be way off base and this truly is this 20 year audio engineer's greatest work.

I haven't listened that close to it, but despite the inconsistencies you point out it's still a really good sounding bootleg of the greatest show Radiohead will ever play.

I really think you're over analyzing it by a pretty wide margin. Who cares that the waveform looks ridiculous? Does the guy have a future in the profession? Probably not, but there are plenty of officially released shows from Pearl Jam, Black Crowes and My Morning Jacket that I wish sounded as good as this.

I uploaded a "fixed" version to ZOMB, if anyone is interested. No need to complain any longer.

Fine. But when I listen to a concert, I like it to flow naturally like a concert recording should. I hate glitches, bad edits, and even fade-outs between songs. It pisses me off. There's no reason they should be there if the original source is a complete unmastered WAV file.

I think this show was designed to be an MP3 upload, and the FLAC version came out only after someone begged the guy for WAV files. Hence the total disregard for smooth transitions from song to song.

Thanks! I was going to 'fix' this myself but now I don't have to - muchly appreciatory

It was so good of this guy to share this show but there really is no excuse for the inconsistent transition between tracks - it baffles me how a sound engineer could listen back to that and not be infuriated by it.

There's a "fixed" version on Zomb now without the editing/mixing errors.

Spot on Matt - I was lucky enough to be at Earls Court I (2003-11-26) which is often overshadowed by night 2 (but just as good IMO :nice:)

I've put together some artwork for JWB's fixed version which can be downloaded here.
