Correct reactiontheplatypus wrote:I just watched it. Goddamn I am fucking mad at WB for butchering this. There are enough elements in it that work that I could see myself really loving a less scattershot cut. The cast is all great. I enjoyed Leto as the Joker and he was used exactly as much as I expected. It really does feel like a series of stitched together trailers. Apparently an actual trailer agency was brought in to edit this?!?

Re: Suicide Squad (DC Movie)
I wanna block this thread and this film from my life. What a steaming awful pile of shit.
It's horrible.
My pals review fits
Suicide Squad: a review
'Suicide Squad' is the big screen adaptation of BBC's 'Homes Under the Hammer’ and fans of the daytime property development show will absolutely love what Warner Bros have done with it.
Everything you love about the hit show is here. Music is used literally and never tonally; all that matters is how the lyrics works with what’s on screen. For instance, ‘Spirit in the Sky’ playing when helicopters take off. Or Eminem’s ‘Guess Who’s Back’ when the Squad get out of prison. My personal favourite was the moment when Harley Quinn said she heard voices, the soundtrack geniuses synced the action perfectly with the line ‘I’m talking to myself at night’ from Seven Nation Army. Who cares whether or not music heightens the emotion of the scene as long as the lyrics kind of work, amirite?
Fans of the BBC show will also love the constant exposition, used to patch up the ‘creative’ editing and to explain who characters are. Like the fact that we know that the villain is evil because Will Smith says ‘You are evil’ or when Harley cuts out a villains heart and the very next second Rick Flag says ‘She cut out her heart.’ Thanks Rick, we forgot what happened a millisecond ago.
Amanda Waller (the film’s version of HUtH’s Martin Roberts) is particularly good at this exposition. We learn very early on that getting people to act against their own self-interest is what she does for a living because she says ‘getting people to act against their own self-interest is what I do for a living.’ And thanks to her exposition, we know that Harley Quinn was the Joker’s shrink who fell in love with him. We never see this happen. She just tells us. Who wants to waste time seeing a scene as powerful as that or as important for character progression when Amanda Waller can just tell us and we can move on!
Speaking of character progression – good news! There is practically no character progression in the film! In fact, there are really only 3 characters. Which is great because characters get in the way of action.
And what action it is! The Squad spend most of the final act shooting at estate agents (soulless human-shaped blobs). It’s quite dark throughout all the action and everyone’s in dark clothing so if you get confused about the action, don’t worry; someone will explain what’s happening. (Rick Flag’s superpower!)
There is one mis-step in the final act, however. It’s a scene in a bar where the characters talk and learn about each other properly for the first time – 20 minutes from the end. It’s quite touching and funny but gets in the way of the blob-shooting and blob-slicing goddammit!
All in all, Homes Under the Hammer: The Movie is a five star affair. And I’m just going to go out on a limb and say it; it’s equally as brilliant as Batman and Robin or Fantastic Four!
It's horrible.

The movie has a serious problem in the rhythm and flow department.

In its current form, worse. As horrible as ID4 is, at least it (mostly) plays like an actual movie.Strat wrote:This better or worse than ID Resurge?

I disagree. Even with its myriad problems I found it more entertaining and engaging than Independence Day, which was just dull in the extremeLoathedVermin72 wrote:In its current form, worse. Re: Suicide Squad (DC Movie)
Saw it yesterday.
I agree with the flow, the narrative of the movie is a mess. I hate what they did with deadshot...my god. And the whole ¨we are not that bad¨also....but its entertaining, it has a few cool moments and there is a better movie underneath all.
And i loved the joker and harley. And killer croc and boomerang...and katana. and amanda fuller kicks ass.

Both are laugh-out-loud hilarious, so long you don't resurface and discover the whole world is talking about what a masterpiece it is.
