He was listed as a consultant on TFA.

Really sad about this. R2 is the hero of every single film. He saves every situation he's in. Character wouldn't have worked at all without Kenny baker. He is r2.
Such a bummer

R2 was a better and more emotive and relatable character throughout all the Star Wars films than a lot of the other cast. I'm really upset about Kenny dying. I shouldn't be but I am.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Oh, I'm sure he was. But he didn't actually have anything to do with the part. That was a classy move; a thanks for everything credit. And that's awesome.wease wrote:He was listed as a consultant on TFA.
Kenny seemed like a great guy. He seemed to really love his work. And he lived longer than many expected. He has endeared himself to generations. His work will live on far beyond him and his legacy is secure.
RIP

No, that's really about it.Farmer John wrote:Didn't mean to make light of the loss of Kenny Baker.dimejinky99 wrote:Sometimes people are just arseholes.![]()
But seriously, what did he do in there?
But he brought a character to life in a time when the technology made that difficult. He was R2. Whatever we think of as R2's mannerisms or attitude, that's all Kenny. He worked his ass off in uncomfortable circumstances to bring to life one of our most beloved characters. And yes, ultimately, it was all just forward, reverse, swivel head, etc. But he made that bucket live. And that's pretty cool. When nothing else was working, they turned to Kenny Baker to bring that droid to life. It wasn't much but it amounted to everything, if you'll forgive the poetic hyperbole.
Plus he always (by all accounts I've seen/read) had a great attitude while doing a fairly thankless job. Compare that to Anthony playing C3P0 and how most everyone thinks of him as being a massive dick and a deva.

R.I.P. Kenny Baker
I'm sure this is already in the A&E Forum, but it feels like it needs its own Star Wars thread.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
