We DVR'd a bunch of seasons of Roseanne to watch, and for some inane reason the channel skipped the episode where Fisher beats up Jackie. I think it was on Logo, too, which seems like a channel that would be fine with airing controversial episodes.
Just caught that one the other day. Fuck, what a great piece of television.
Where do you stand on how the final season went down?

I've never been into it. There might be some kind of meta brilliance in there but I just don't enjoy it.

Yeah, even if someone wanted to make an argument about the show's form, it just wasn't that funny.

Roseanne had a fantastic run in the middle seasons. As popular as it was I think it was underappreciated.
Frasier was wonderful until about season 8 then dipped before ending strong. Those weak seasons though water down its legacy and its look has become dated now. You can argue it was the last great multi-cam sitcom. (If I wasn't lazy I'd Google an Emmy search). But I would compare the Top 10 episodes of Frasier more favorably to the Top 10 episodes of Friends or even Seinfeld among its contemporaries.

David Cross's "Making America Great Again" Netflix special is scary unfunny. Just beyond lame.

Everybody thinks they are Louis CK now, but they don't have the wit, intelligence or empathy to pull it off.

Even Louis CK's stand up didn't get interesting until 2011.

Stand up died with George Carlin. God bless Louis for trying to keep it a thing, though. I appreciate his massive efforts.

Huh? If you haven't already, you should spend a night at the Comedy Cellar. There's terrific stuff happening that, like theater, needs to be seen in person to really appreciate.
No, thank you.
