Yeah I got mine last week too. I'm not too thrilled with the tracklist, I got it more for a memento. I love the liner notes.

I mean, I really don't want to listen to more than thirty seconds of Dan fuggin' Deacons.

Set list ain't great. But Pujol, JTB, Oh Sees, Natural Child (Crack Mountain rules), mad it enough for me. Plus the Ty LP is phenomenal.

I'm by no means an expert. I was spoiled in my studio days, 'coz I could listen to my music after a session ended on an enormous pair of Oceanways. But for home use, I've always tended towards affordable and gets-the-job-done quality, because that is what most people have at home (and was therefore a more accurate depiction of what listeners would hear on music I was listening to).

Try gearslutz, or maybe head-fi.org; or just browse some product reviews. Consumer Reports and C-Net are great for that sort of thing. They dispense with the bullshit, and tell you what the best speakers are for your budget and listening habits.

There isn't a ton of info out there on them and i can't tell if i love them or am so so on them. Some albums they sound great on, others not so much.

I'm not familiar with those. The problem with this stuff is that despite what the tech specs look like, the experience is entirely subjective, and likely to change from one listening location to another, and certainly with different types of music. I tend to go for tried-and-true brands that seem to aim for a great listening experience for your average user, rather than the perfect experience for your hardcore stereo head. So if it were me, I'd be looking into Bose, Bang and Olufsen, brands of that ilk. They're not as boutiquey as some of the other stuff, but they've made millions of people happy because they've been able to design speakers that translate well across a variety of musical styles and listening environments.

Yea, that's another great example. I don't know the 600s specifically, but I'm sure you'll find a lot more practical user reviews than you would for some boutique brand that only gets a couple of reviews from audiophiles. I used to listen to music very, very clinically -- I'm talking with a db meter and oscilloscope -- but none of that shit matters once you're in the real world.

So Strat's "new friend" is a "dealer or something or something"? Sounds like he's dealing in stolen stereo equipment. Ask him about your warranty, Strat, see what he comes back with.

He's the husband of my girlfriends best friend. he sets up rich peoples home with audio system's, home theater, integrated sound and lighting etc. he just gets everything at cost and said he'd take care of me.
