I'll strongly consider anything with Reilly. I'll try to avoid Ferrell as much as possible.

That simply isn't true, friend. Not by a country mile. He's certainly not an actor. And he's barely comic. I would entertain an argument that he's the single most overrated noun of our time.

I've liked a few things Ferrell has done. Stranger Than Fiction is fantastic. Really brilliant film. And he was outstanding on The Office. What else... ? Old School, maybe?

Why does durden hate comedy? Why does he hate to laugh? He's the real board pessimist.

I'm obviously over exaggerating because it's funny and it's what I do. But I've never been a big Will Ferrell fan. I have liked a few things he's done but mostly I just don't care for him. But he makes people laugh and that's a pretty cool thing. I'll never begrudge the guy his success. He's got something that people seem to respond to. I'm just usually one of those people.

Elf is also great. And that's probably the best performance he's ever given. It's a great movie and he's actually great in it. That might be my favorite thing he's ever done.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It's a pretty stupid movie with a couple of truly fantastic scenes. I do not care for Will Ferrell in that movie. That's a good example of what I hate about him, actually. Paul Rudd is good. Steve Carell is amazing. And Jack Black damn near steals the movie in that one scene with the dog.
