It is, and I'm totally fine with that. It defies my expectations every week while still being totally believable and engaging. Love it. Example: I never really expected the hearse driver to be a suspect, and when they started spinning it that way I sort of said, "Aw, man..." But then they made him a weird MRA and made the stepfather a just as believable suspect 10 minutes later. If I was painting an ending for the series, Naz is either convicted or released based on a fair and balanced trial (which doesn't look good so far) and we never get real closure on the killer. That'd be bold for a series like this (individual episodes of other programs have left their conclusions ambiguous, but never something as drawn out), so I'm on board.
Yeah I'm thinking Naz is going to be found guilty and we'll have other plausible scenarios and won't really know. Which is cool.

I'm finding Naz's actions in prison to be more and more unbelievable. I get that he's adapting, and doing what he needs to do, but getting SIN tattooed on your fingers? He's smart enough to know that won't make him look innocent.
I think being bold would be Naz getting killed in prison before a verdict is found.
I'll be the one in the lobby in the green fuck me shirt. The green one.

I dont know guys..i feel they are going to tell a straightforward end to this story anyway. Yeah, Naz might get killed, or might be free, but he will be changed forever...i feel thats the reason of the show, the whole focus is he wont be free anymore.

In the first episode of this - I think when Naz is being taken to the police station - the cop is speaking with Naz while driving....there's one shot where the dash of the cop car isn't blurred - the speedo and rev counter are both on 0 while the car is driving.

It would be really bold if Rangi Guy died and we never figure out what the fuck he was talking about.

Feels like the finish is really going to be rushed. Seems like we are closer to the halfway point than just two episodes left.

Ok so that was annoying. We see Stone looking at the phone and pausing over the video of the open door downstairs. Ok Nas won't walk on that. But they haven't even brought it up?
It's incompetence by the cops not to have noticed it at the very least.

Also the whole thing with the probate lawyer and the step dad. With only 2 episodes left? How will they factor that in believably?

Re: the door...if Stone has thought deeply about it already, he's not going to bring it up until it's time to construct his version of events. You want to spring that on the prosecution as late as possible so that they don't have time to prepare a response.

I was thinking that. Silver bullet in any case is the win but he still hasn't shown it to chandra. If he's even realised yet. Probably just a dramatic tension thing?

I don't necessarily thinks that's true. Unfortunately, a cop's job isn't finding truth. It's clearing cases.

nah I like it. its showing us he wasn't the golden boy we thought he was - even before prison. it keeps us on our toes as viewers in regards to whether we think he's potentially innocent or not. i think it's totally believable. after all, we have no idea what naz was like before The Night Of.

That's not it though. It's not the (seemingly) abrupt change in personality that's unbelievable, it's the fact that it's an incredibly stupid move made by someone we know to be pretty smart.

yeah fairo. is he that smart though? some of his actions after he found the girl dead were pretty dumb. maybe he's smart in some ways and not others.

I can write off anything he did immediately after he found the dead girl because, well, he just found the dead girl. I think a lot of smart people would panic in that situation.

i'd think stone would keep chandra in the dark about his findings, as he sees her as inexperienced and a bit too eager.

Fantastic stuff last night. I'm continually impressed by how this show keeps laughing at the ways we've been conditioned to watch cop/court shows--for weeks, we've been debating what the magic bullet would be, i.e. the piece of evidence that would either exonerate or damn Nas. But everything's been presented at trial, and we're really no closer to knowing what the verdict will be. The only thing that hasn't been presented, I'd say, is anything about Andrea's step father. Is Stone saving that for his closing? I love how the preview for next week's episode gave very few hints about what's going to happen next week. Can't wait!

Spoiler: show
the kiss was dumb and unnecessary though. if it's just a way for her to get off the case and for stone to take over and shine at the eleventh hour, it'll be even dumber.
