Right. For $ reasons. They realized they could OWN blockbuster december. Tons of families, tons of groups and reviewings as people were taking days off work. Plus it kept them away from their other major properties. I would be shocked if they deviate from December releases.

It's amazing how far along they are in post already. There's reason to believe the movie will be 100% ready for May. But I agree that they'll keep it in December.

Could it be a new era though?
Just drop it like a radiohead record with a few days notice. No telling me it wouldn't do as big numbers as it was going to anyways. The scramble to see it might even see opening weekend/ week records broken?

Nah, Disney is all about the culture; the experience. They want the fans to feel special. They want the event.

Forget all that noise, I just want to get to Hollywood for that Cantina pop-up bar.

Just hearing about that. Sounds awesome. But still no word if it's organised by lucasfilm or just some randomers?

Did Lucas actually give away his $4billion? All the headlines around the time said he was.

Yeah, I never saw any articles that proved it. But that was what he said. And I heard it reported that he did. So... probably?

The official website for the bar has ZERO Star Wars or Disney logos anywhere. I'm sure this isn't "official" in that regard. But I don't care about that. Having it be rogue might make it less expensive, anyway.

They're giving away freebies and if you look at it it's kinda bereft of SW branding apart from the title. But ther will be staff and waiters 'in costume' and they're encouraging patrons(you have to book your visit) to be in costume also. Lucasfilm usually clamp down anything like this. Odd

Yeah, good point. I have no idea. But again, I don't really care. I just want to go!

And you don't to make reservations. They do take walk-ins, too. But I think there are restrictions on when.

Would you guys be up for it being brought forward to May?

One of the first rumours upon Disney buying Lucasfilm was that there'd be two Star Wars films a year. Is that sustainable and would you be into it?

I think I would.

I think two Star Wars films a year is a mistake. But I know it's coming.

And I'd be fine if they moved Episode 8 up to May. I'd fucking love the hell out of that. If the movie is done and everyone's happy with the VFX and all of that. Bring it on!

Williams is seeing a cut and starting score this or next week. He dropped that bomb about getting to write the music for the reys parent reveal (pp). He has also said he doesn't want anyone else writing music for Ridley boyega. ( )He might have been just speculating but no. He was told the whole deal at the start. He knows the whole arc.

Someone on collider made a great point. They'll give us the Rey parent reveal in 8 but it's gonna lead to a bigger gut punch in 9.

Yeah, I listened to the audio version of that episode. Good stuff.

Williams would have to be told every arc to begin with wouldn't he?

To give him an Idea or a map of where he has to go with his writing for the music,

I could well be wrong but that's just sense to me.

*i did love the part where one of the lads were Aping someone at Lucasfilm about to lose their shit when they hear someone leaked something. And then they hear it's john Williams and they're like shit. Totally untouchable and can say what he wants :)

Yeah, again, because Williams farms out the vast majority of his scores now, I don't think he does need to know arcs. It's nice of them to let him know. I mean, he's earned that much. But no, I don't think he needs to know anything. If Disney wanted to be arseholes about it, they could totally keep him in the dark.
