I liked the concert.

Do you mean the band sounded bad or the recording sounded bad?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

The recording, for sure. The '14 boots sound great compared to this... At least the Denver boot does, and despite the JW guitar I prefer the '14 OtE to this one. What I'd really like to know is what makes this version definitive? I mean, other than the pretty packaging and the guest guitarist who, imo didn't really add anything special to the jam except some space noises and a more raw sound... all of which the pj guitarists can do much better whenever they want to.

Maybe I'm just not a big fan of JW's playing.

I think it's the rawness that makes this version definitive for me. I honestly never cared much for this song before this recording; I found it meandering and boring. But this one I am feeling...
I've always thought of, and referred to this song as "Porch#2"...

It's kinda like they attempted to recreate the magic they used to have live with Porch, but failed miserably. When I saw it live, however, I did get into it pretty good. That may be my bias and resentment of JW here. I guess I'd just rather not have him in what people consider the "definitive version." I'm sure it did harness some energy the band wouldn't have otherwise, though.

Whatevs, it's pretty packaging and all, but otherwise unenjoyable for me.

I don't know that this is meant to be "definitive." It's not a Ten Club Vault release. I think Jack White just invites people to play his venue and archives their performances as a "vault" release regardless of how good or poor that performance is.

I kinda go the other way with him - I prefer his solo stuff

I'm surprised there isn't a better digital copy out there.

Are we still talking about Pearl Jam here?

I just want records that don't sound like complete junk.
If Bruce, Neil, and Bob Dylan can release really good, late career albums, why not Pearl Jam?
Serious question: Did Bruce release a great album after Tom Joad? I haven't heard one, but I haven't listened to every release. I definitely hated Magic.
Magic is a top tier Springsteen album (IMO) and it's regarded by the hardcore fanbase as his best album since he reunited the E-Street Band. It sounds like ass (victim of the loudness war. B'OB produced it although I don't know if it's down to him) but it's one of the best anti-Bush records of the era, certainly better than Bu$shleaguer or No More or whatever on-the-nose ham fisted dross Pearl Jam were putting out.

The Rising is probably his most well known record since Tom Joad. It's great, some of the tracks are definitely B-side material though and it needs to be trimmed.

Seeger Sessions is brilliant. He got a band together and recorded a bunch of old time folk songs over the course of a few days.

The rest of his work ranges from decent to downright terrible (Working on a Dream and High Hopes are dreadful)

Yeah, I'm not super familiar with Bruce's albums. I know a lot of songs and whatnot but I don't know a ton of his albums front to back. Having said that, I think The Rising is a pretty great record.

I blasted Magic the other night with the sunroof and windows open. It is such a great summer album.
