Tong Po's assistance is maybe the worst actor of all time. Yes Asian. And he's trying to sound super badass Asian and he comes off sounding like a middle aged white man impersonating an Asian at the dinner table.

Despite all its flaws I enjoyed the new Kickboxer for what it was

Léon: The Professional - hadn't seen this since my teenage years, what a great film!
Forgiveness - Wasn't too bad, few jumps in pacing and the sound recording was a bit all over the place
Mahana - what a great film. Would recommend this to everyone!

Brilliant. Its Brian talking about his movies, the studios, the movement of the 70s, the craft, the visuals, the actors...its amazing.
God i miss De Palma. Im re watching his movies after this..i need them.

10 Cloverfield Lane.
Good enough JJ movie; well made but forgettable. I'm sure I was supposed to be more on the edge of my seat for the last 20 minutes than I was.

Hail Caesar. It's fine. Almost like a shoestring plot to support numerous scenes in the vein of the Lebowski "bowling dream" scene. Comedy is of the Intolerable Cruelty/Ladykillers variety. Some wonderfully silly scenes, but overall it's bottom-tier Coens.

Saw it on an airplane and I feel like that's the best way to watch it, otherwise you'd get bored and start browsing the internet or something during the slow parts. That's not to say it isn't funny but there are some parts that are questionable.

We're watching LA Confidential. It's a good'un.

One of my first DVDs too, back when they were doing the "buy this player and get 10 free movies!"

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Kubo and the two strings is gorgeous. Well worth seeing. Blatantly American accents take you out of it sometimes. They could have worked around this. But it's still a great film.
