I watched this and thought we needed a thread for Carla Bozulich and all of her projects: http://www.amoeba.com/live-shows/detail ... ows/page-1. That's Evangelista playing at Amoeba Records in 2008.
Carla's got a new album recently out on Constellation Records called Boy. It's kind of a culmination of all her previous work, including three-ish other solo records, the aforementioned Evangelista band (my favorite of her projects), a collaboration album with percussionist Ches Smith, the duo Scarnella, leading the Geraldine Fibbers, and being an essential element for Ethyl Meatplow.
Carla's a sheer talent, and one of my favorite artists. Anyone else a fan?

I'd hardly call myself a fan, but I do like the one Evangelista album I've heard (the latest one) as well as this year's solo album. I like this one quite a bit.

I hate to pretend I can predict what people will like, but I think you should check out those other two Evangelista albums, if you like In Animal Tongue, Heathen. I think you'd enjoy them. I generally prefer Hello, Voyager, but Prince of Truth is also really good.

A cool, albeit short, video of Carla performing in Hungary with her Boy band. They play a Willie Nelson tune, a few songs off Boy, an Evangelista song ("Artificial Lamb"), and a so-far-unreleased song called "Let it Roll."

A short time ago, the UK's Cafe Oto released this live album of Carla's performance from last year with Spanish musician Don the Tiger: https://www.cafeoto.co.uk/shop/carla-bozulich-9-4-15/. It's got several song's that she's had in regular rotation for a while now, including a few from her last album, a few Evangelista tunes, a medley of "Red Headed Stranger," a version of "MacCrimmon's Lament," and the first official release of new song "L.A." paired together with the Scarnella song "Underdog."
Here's that:

Carla is amazing on that one...tragabigzanda wrote:I first heard Carla with the Geraldine Fibbers, and immediately loved her. Haven't dug much deeper: I've heard some of the Scarnella stuff, and her collaborations with Mike Watt, the Nels Cline Singers, and I think she did some stuff with my old buddy Joel's band The Book of Knots? She's a real talent for sure. Her cover on SY's Tuff Gnarl on the Mike Watt record is one of my favorite tracks of my youth.

Discogs tells me yes, she did a spot of vocals on their second album, and that Shazhad Ismaily, a frequent collaborator of hers, has worked quite extensively with them.tragabigzanda wrote:...I think she did some stuff with my old buddy Joel's band The Book of Knots?...
