I lack the skills to edit the comp but I would love to help discuss selections and will provide tracks if necessary, though I suspect you master comp makers all have your sources

Re: Pearl Jam's Best Live Performances
I would almost prefer to limit covers to songs that have been played consistently throughout their career. I think a lot of "tour-specific" covers may have clocked more than 10 plays, and an abundance of these will make the compilation unwieldy. I'd say the following covers make sense to include, the rest would feel superfluous to me on a comp like this:
RITFW
Baba
Fuckin' Up
Leaving Here
Last Kiss
Soldier of Love
Sonic Reducer
Masters of War
Crazy Mary
The Kids are Alright
I Am a Patriot
I Believe in Miracles
Maybe:
Real Me
Love Reign
Kick Out the Jams
I also think a lot of those "beginning of the first encore, just Ed and a guitar" songs really kill the vibe at a PJ show, I would be for omitting all of those, unless it's a PJ original ("Dead Man" being the song that comes to mind).

Re: Pearl Jam's Best Live Performances
I think you're right KD - do we really want songs like Public Image and Imagine clogging up this thing?
Add these to the maybe list (played on multiple tours):
Crown of Thorns
All Along the Watchtower
I've Got A Feeling
Little Wing
Mother
Fortunate Son
Know Your Rights
Gimme Some Truth
And yeah, perhaps leave off these semi-regular Ed solo covers:
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
Picture In A Frame
I Won't Back Down
Don't Be Shy

Re: Pearl Jam's Best Live Performances
"Crown of Thorns" should be on there for sure -- and almost certainly the Vegas '00 version. "I've Got a Feeling" too -- that one's been around since the beginning and currently stands as the last song the band has played live. Doesn't get much fuller circle than that.
Most of the others I'm inclined to want to exclude on the grounds of simply not really caring for them, but admittedly that's down to personal taste. If we want the comp to be representative of the band's career in a certain way, then some objective guidelines like number of times played do make sense to impose.

This sounds pretty cool boys. And somehow I'm unfamiliar with the first edition.

I have to say, though -- if getting into this project distracts Ridley from his Radiohead B-sides comp, I vote "backburner."

Re: Pearl Jam's Best Live Performances
Haha, no. The Radiohead project is almost ready to go, just needs some remastering attention from a certain someone.
This GH II / Definitive Live PJ comp will take some time to debate and form consensus anyhoo, so I reckon we get the ball rolling soon

I can provide this if required. It is mandatory.

This would be incredibly awesome.ridleybradout wrote:So with all this talk of best live performances, is there enough interest to finally do a 'Green Habit' compilation update?
I was thinking we start with reviewing the original picks and suggest any updates, before moving onto the 2005-2016 live cannon...

Re: Pearl Jam's Best Live Performances
If you are doing an all new compilation, probably not. If you are just adding songs to the GH compilation, then maybe.
