I don't hate Lightning Bolt.

There are at least five songs on there that I'm so fucking happy Pearl Jam wrote and recorded.

I don't hate LB either there is just no replay value in it. Its boring, straightforward rock its missing the little nuances and experimentation of their earlier work... Also there is way too many lyrics, ed chiming in when he shouldn't be......Its generic basically....Its there worst album

It's not "experimental" by any means. But there are songs that sound new to Pearl Jam. Infallible, Let the Records Play, Sleeping By Myself... while hardly deep or innovative on their own, stand out as unique to me in the Pearl Jam canon.

The album is mostly broad strokes but I appreciate the nuance when it's there. And I can listen to it again and again and appreciate what Lightning Bolt is.

Was listening to STP's Shangri-La-de-da the other day, and thinking "How is it that STP put out a much better radio-friendly modern rock record than PJ?"

Also, a good record. Not sure if I like it more than LB, though. I'd have to think about it.

Mind Your Manners, Sirens, Pendulum, Infallible, Sleeping by Myself and Yellow Moon are all mainstay PJ tracks for me. I listen to them all the fucking time.
