I remember that for years the line on those were, "They were put on for political purposes, so the band can't make money from them, so it's complicated." Or some shit like that, but I'm never sure if it was true. Even if it was, that doesn't explain why the Boston shows could be out there.
I don't think that's true. They released the Tester fundraiser show.
Not officially--I believe that was leaked.
Wasn't the 2012 show a Tester fundraiser? That was officially released.
I was thinking of the 2005 show, which was definitely a fundraiser and definitely never released.
Q: Is there any chance that PJ will make the VFC tour available on iTunes? I know you said in the last Rumor Pit that there wouldn't be an official Pearl Jam release of the VFC shows however, will the organizers of the event be releasing anything on cd or dvd?
A: No.

St Louis was rough for me because i had a cold and i didnt love the theater vibe.
Grand Rapids was one of the best shows ive ever seen. Toledo was also fantastic but had a weird vibe because everybody knew neil was there and awaiting his arrival.
I remember the Boston shows being super high-energy but not sounding good in the room. It was the first time they played the Fleet Center and all subsequent shows there sounded much better. The pacing was a little odd, too, with the very short main sets.
I thought St. Louis was good but one is not always attuned to the finer points of the show whilst in the room. "All or None" was the highlight for me, and I think a good recording would reveal it to be among the better versions of the song played. I would buy up that show without a second thought, I just feel like the Matt years have been documented exhaustively. We're six volumes in -- it's Irons time.

I saw Asheville and Orlando (Kissimmee). What felt great about both was Pearl Jam taking chances and not relying on heavy hitters. The smaller venues were a novelty as well. I saw 7 shows in 2003 and none with less than 18,000 people. These two VFC shows had 8,000 tops. Ed didn't sound as good in 2004 as he did in '03 or '05, but the shows were special. They were intense and punchy.
I am glad I saw them on VFC, but if I had a time machine that could only go back to '03, '04 or '05, I would head back to '05.

Still probably my all time favorite Pearl Jam show.
So lemme get this straight -- you, me, Strat, and I think Matt Reeder were all in the same room once? And we didn't even get together and Jamily it up? If only we could have known what the future held for us all.

This is actually quite depressing in retrospect.
I like to think it's the very reason why that show was so special. Even if I didn't understand it at the time. The universe knew.
I had such a horrible cold. Sore throat. I would have been a miserable jamily member meeter upper. I also had just sent my GF off home after the previous two shows and i was sad.
I remember being very disappointed with "alone" but so fucking blown away by All or None
