It's super disappointing, but before Jimmy G looked like the second coming last week, everyone was saying, "If the Pats go 2-2, they can still easily make the playoffs." That sure looks like where it's heading.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Welp.

Garrapolo ruled out for second half. Good thing the Dolphins look like the worst team in football today

Re: New England Patriots
It's nice that the Dolphins are biting on all these play fakes to let Brissett build up his confidence.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gronk plays in a limited capacity on Thursday. It'd open things up for Brissett in the 2-TE sets and then he'd have ten days to rest before playing again.

Caveat: unless they blow this lead to the Dolphins, which isn't out of the question.Simple Torture wrote:It's super disappointing, but before Jimmy G looked like the second coming last week, everyone was saying, "If the Pats go 2-2, they can still easily make the playoffs." They should just bag the next two, rest gronk and company, and let Brady come back pissed off and with everyone healthy

Re: New England Patriots
I think you're right, Ruddo. I told myself 2-2 was a win, before the season started. Until Jimmy got his collar bone broken, like Eastern Illinois QBs are wont to do, I had hopes for more.

Re: New England Patriots
Was trying to think of any QBs on the street with starting experience that the Pats could pick up to start the next 2, but I think it makes much more sense to start someone who knows the system (Brissett) even if you know what you're getting from him isn't starter-quality. I'd rather them go 0-2 in the next two running their schemes than just try to run plays and get out of sync.

Re: New England Patriots
Flynn makes sense. I doubt he'd start after 3 days, though. Or even against the Bills. Just a body so Edelman doesn't have to play QB.

Doesn't sound so bad for Jimmy G (AC joint sprain, day-to-day). But there's no way he's playing Thursday.

Re: New England Patriots
The next two are still home games and if the defense plays to its potential, I still think they can get away with playing a third string rookie. If there's one team built for this, it's these guys. I'd still go all out and play Gronk if he's healthy.
Ruddo, they lost home field last year in the AFC Champ and that was the difference between going to the Super Bowl. Every game counts. Ya can't bag the next two!!!

That defense is no joke. Interesting to see what happens when Brady comes back.

Re: New England Patriots
Premature, I admit. BUT... after these last three weeks, does Tom Brady's stock go down? In terms of legacy, I'm saying. Is he the GOAT or is it just BB's system? Look what Matt fucking Cassel was able to do. That guy tricked the Chiefs into giving him 60 million dollars because he played for Belichick and that system. Garoppolo looked good until he went out. This rookie peformed really well against another tough defense.
It's amazing to me what Belichick is able to do. I didn't watch the game but it seems like it wasn't even a sloppy game. Obviously, Brady is an excellent QB. I'm not saying he wouldn't have been great in someone else's system. But does the fact that basically anyone can step into the starging QB roll and win games say anything at all about his legacy? Should Brady be taken down a peg? Or is it accurately rated?

It certainly doesn't help it. Regular season and postseason are quite different however.durdencommatyler wrote:Premature, I admit. BUT... after these last three weeks, does Tom Brady's stock go down? Re: New England Patriots
we were discussing that this morning t,d
while i do not doubt bill is a great coach i think his true strength is his scouting ability of players that can work in his system
look what he did in cleveland when he didnt have any control compared to now.
either way the pats are never an easy out
