Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
KNowing if that's true or false involves knowing the prequels or at least watching them again.
I don't have the time or inclination. But there were rumours that up to three Death Stars were being built at the same time and the first one exploded at weapons test. It's also rumoured that we'll see or hear that mentioned in R1

The images in the trailer are outstanding. And I goddamn love Ryan Gosling. I saw a lot of people hated it and it got pretty awful reviews overall. But I still really want to see it.LoathedVermin72 wrote:It's not, but you will probably think it is.dimejinky99 wrote:It's probably terrible.

I was fairly luke warm on that. Some great scenes. And some really weird, inconsistent stuff. It's a bummer because I think Blue Valentine is one of the best films ever made.Strat wrote:The place beyond the pines was great.

Couldn't they say that the thing in the prequels was just the "concept" but that the actual plans/development started with this Erso guy?Rangi Guy wrote:Don't know if this has been posted before or not, and too lazy to go back and look

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Yeah, I think it's going to be a combination of this and what dime said. They'll mention the original design and some sort of explostion/set back due to malfunctining weapons technology. Erso's dad is brought in much later to fix/improve that technology and adjust the plans, thus completing the Death Star we know and love to hate.E.H. Man, think about how awesome it would be had the prequels been done better.durdencommatyler wrote:Yeah, I think it's going to be a combination of this and what dime said. Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
In one of these "new" Star War movies (R1 would be a good one) I want someone to be having a casual conversation in a cantina or something and we overhear the tail end of a joke at a nearby table: "...so then he said, 'mitichlorians! MITICHLORIANS!!! AH HAHAHAHA! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!'"Strat wrote:lol at the prequels

That would be awesome. But better not put it in a cantina. Everyone will cry that the whole thing is just A New Hope all over again.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I kind of like that the prequels are still cannon. It's like when an artist gives themselves difficult restraints to spur creativity.
"Oh shit, how are we going to make a good movie with the shitty rules that these shitty prequels have saddled us with? We're going to have to come up with some insanely brilliant shit to save this movie built on some stupid scene involving Poggle the Lesser."

But I still pray that one of these days Disney will remake Episodes 1-3 and the "original prequels" can be thrown out forever and always.
