David lynch was lined up to direct Return of the Jedi but instead chose Dune.

I think it would have been interesting at least. Might have been awesome stuff in the Luke/Vader/Emperor dynamic.

I think Lynch chose well in that Dune was much more his vision than ROTJ would've been. I don't really see how Jedi could've been that different seeing as how much control Lucas had over it.
