I'm trying to think off the top of my head of a Crazy Mary I like better than that one and I cant.

I was just listening to Quebec City 2005 and that had a pretty great Crazy Mary. Maybe it's just that I hadn't listened to one from the '03-'05 era in a while, but it really had a ton of energy and interplay between Mike and Boom that was more than the generic ruts they can get into. And I'm certainly not saying it's better than the Gorge version.

Actually, that whole show was pretty good after a few early flubs. Good setlist, especially the first encore starting Man of the Hour, I Am Mine, Footsteps. Followed by that version of Crazy Mary. Worth a listen.

The Live At The Garden Mary is pretty awesome, as is the Seattle II 2000 one.

See, I prefer the Boom versions from 03-05, I love that interplay between Mike and Boom.

I don't really hear "interplay" between Mike and Boom, i.e. two musicians communicating with each other via their instruments, so much as I just hear two people taking turns soloing independently. Those jams were monstrous in person but they don't hold up well on disc, and to my ears they don't really suit the character of the song. I prefer the dark, introverted performances from 2000 too. Indianapolis 2000 was the first time I ever heard "Crazy Mary," ever, and it's still probably my favorite version.

The Boom/Mike thing is pretty sub-par now as they are both just sleepwalking through it, but on the 03 and 05 tours they were really into it and I loved it.

This is so spot on. The 2000 versions felt like you were watching something sacred. The post-2000 ones are like a frat party.

I really like the London O2 18Aug, 2009 version of Mary. Probably as I was there but it seemed white hot.

First live In My Tree I've heard with Irons on drums. Fuckin' a. This thing is wrecking me. I LOVE it.

Two weeks later, I'd like to nominate Chicago 2000 as one of the best versions of Crazy Mary.

Also, I listened to the first 2013 bootleg today and I was like...woof, not a fan.

Damn your insight. It's hard to convince myself otherwise when you've spelled it out so clearly. Thanks. :finger:
