Similarly, Björk. And Shakira. And Janelle Monae. All of these have early albums that don't resemble their later work and they've since disowned.

R.E.M. (though R.E.M. has like 5-6 best albums...but I think Murmur tops them all)

Wu-Tang Clan
Sunny Day Real Estate
Weezer (I love Pinkerton but it isn't as good as the Blue album)
Foo Fighters
Interpol
Arcade Fire (see above about the Ramones)
Bloc Party
Band of Horses
Art Brut

I think "There is Nothing Left to Lose" is their best, but I only really know their hits other than those first few albums.

The last one is the only Mynabirds I like a lot. The other two have their moments.

I don't hate Coldplay at all, and I agree that Viva La Vida is best (especially if you include Prospekt's March).
