Re: New England Patriots
Oh for sure. He knows how to get players for his system. Absolutely. It's impressive to me. But there has to be something more to it. No other franchise seems to be able to do it as consistently. Maybe he's just THAT good at evaluating talent. But man....
Impressive.
Impressive.

He also values special teams way more than a lot of teams. And his success with it over the years would make you think that more people would focus more on it. Right now he's essentially got the best kicker and punter in the NFL. And as seen by last night, a top notch punter is a great thing to have.

Re: New England Patriots
Absolutely. Our punter has been the Chiefs MVP for the past five or six years. I can't imagine how terrible we'd be without him.E.H. As far as the Pats go, they still have vs. CIN, @PIT, vs. SEA and @DEN to go. Plenty of challenges ahead.

I don't think anyone thinks they'll go undefeated. They could easily win 2 of those games listed.Green Habit wrote:As far as the Pats go, they still have vs. CIN, @PIT, vs. SEA and @DEN to go. Plenty of challenges ahead.

I mean, I fully expect them to lose a game or two along the road. They won't go undefeated. But I can't see anyone stopping them in the Super Bowl.Green Habit wrote:As far as the Pats go, they still have vs. CIN, @PIT, vs. SEA and @DEN to go. Plenty of challenges ahead.

Yep. Exactly. Denver might be the only really tough one of those, actually.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I don't think anyone thinks they'll go undefeated. Re: New England Patriots
What's Belichick's system? Does he line up every week and say, "this is what we do, try and stop it"? He doesn't. Every week the the plan is specific for the team they're playing and what his players can do to stop it/defeat it. Bill is a much better game planner and coach than talent evaluator. I'm pretty sure the scouts do most of that work.durdencommatyler wrote:Premature, I admit. BUT... after these last three weeks, does Tom Brady's stock go down? In terms of legacy, I'm saying. Is he the GOAT or is it just BB's system? Look what Matt fucking Cassel was able to do. That guy tricked the Chiefs into giving him 60 million dollars because he played for Belichick and that system. Garoppolo looked good until he went out. This rookie peformed really well against another tough defense.
It's amazing to me what Belichick is able to do. I didn't watch the game but it seems like it wasn't even a sloppy game. Obviously, Brady is an excellent QB. I'm not saying he wouldn't have been great in someone else's system. But does the fact that basically anyone can step into the starging QB roll and win games say anything at all about his legacy? Should Brady be taken down a peg? Or is it accurately rated?
Jimmy G. has looked really, really good, this season. I didn't expect it. Who did? His release is damn quick and he's been reading his progressions like the game isn't too fast for him. Tough for a guy with virtually no experience.
Brissett did nothing special last night, as far as throwing the ball. I was impressed with the way he slid on a few scrambles after getting the 1st; showed maturity for a rookie. But, last night was all about the defense and special teams. No way that and/or Matt Cassel takes away from Brady's GOAT status. The offense is a completely different animal with 12 under center.
