Plus if you're Disney, you don't spend $4 billion just to stop after a trilogy and 2 or 3 standalone films

Re: Star Wars: The Prequels
Oh, I fully expect them to do many more Episode movies after IX.
I'm hoping they do more ancillary films other than "young fill-in-the-blank character" films. We really don't need those. I know Disney is just trying to get a feel for what will work for them, but origin stories for every interesting character from the OT is gonna get old really quick. Theres way more stories than those that can be told.

Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

So I mean this is a 6+ hour trilogy about an old man pranking his friends.
Made by an old man.
Who made us wait for years to get it.
If he dies and leaves a note about how funny it was fucking us around, he will become my new favorite director.

Re: Star Wars: The Prequels
Just to go back to my (amazing) post on the previous page, Paul Hidalgo recently said by the time of the prequels the Jedi had become more about order than about Jedi and had lost their way and were totally oblivious to it as they hadn't faced a real threat or danger in thousand(s) of years.

He's the head of story development and canon keeper at Lucasfilm. Him and Dave felloni are the walking encyclopaedias that oversee all future storylines in canon in all forms making sure it hasn't been done before, story arcs and how they weave into others.
For example all the new canon books and comics and films have threads and arcs that tie into each other an they supervise all that so that it has a shape and doesn't contradict itself as it did, wildly in the old EU.

They're also massive Star Wars fans and the level of quality in the output since the EU was scrapped and in the new canon books etc has risen dramatically.
