Yeah, you have nothing to risk except horrific embarrassment.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I know. But you know I love him. But he is becoming a broken record lately, and he is getting worse with his misunderstanding of certain issues and lack of empathy. I think it's bizarre for a 50+ man to insist on categorizing things in terms of children and adults. He's starting to sound like...well, a child, I guess.

Listening to "How Did This Get Made" and Paul actually said the words "should of". Not "should've," he said two distinct words. It's bad enough speech patterns caused it to show up in type, but now type is causing it to show in speech patterns‽

I'm so far behind on podcasts. The idea of catching up is daunting.

It is my greatest dream to someday open up my podcast app and see nothing in the queue. I've only been really listening to podcasts for about thirteen months, and it has never happened. Even if it ever happens, it will only last a day at most. But what a sweet day that will be. Someday...

I look forward to that day, friend. Godspeed.

It doesn't help that every time I get close to emptying the queue, I get corky and subscribe to a new podcast and then download dozens of back episodes.

I've stopped adding new podcasts. It's way too difficult keeping up with the ones I already listen to.

I've forbidden myself from doing that anymore. I have an audible subscription and I need to listen to some damn books instead of randos talking.

What the hell is up with this latest episode of How Did This Get Made? It sounds like Paul Scheer and Michael Showalter are high as hell, or simply forgot how to articulate simple ideas. Manzukas is also weirdly subdued. The only person who says anything funny through the entire episode is Aisling Bea.

"It's like... it's... what really happened here, that drove me crazy... in this scene I feel like, the whole thing was just... it's like, they're not, the actress, it's like this is the scene where they went okay, she doesn't, she isn't able to... it's so weird"

Yeah that episode was bad. Except I thought Bea was by far the worst part.

I've probably only listened to 20 episodes of HDTGM and most of them are split between 75% good content and 25% filler. I'm not surprised some of them veer into even more odd territory.

It's also never fun to listen to a podcast host try to put their own spin on the sponsor's ad copy, but it's particularly painful to hear Paul Scheer struggle through it.

Yeah, he strikes me as a terrible improv guy when it comes to those things.
