I've been in that situation and its true. You are dying to share. Not worth the splash back and nobody probably would believe anyways.

This is true. If I had any details of importance, I'd be happy to share them here.Lament wrote:I don't believe that anybody who hints at knowing something is doing anything other than bluffing. At this stage, it looks like PJ and co. have done a top job keeping a lid on things.
Either way, the double album idea is sounding better and better.

Seeing as it will be a US-only tour announcement and an album with the writing quality responsible for "Sleeping By Myself" and "Olé" I think I'm a lot less excited than this time last week.

In fairness SBM is a great song and we don't know for certain that it features at all.

True of no confirmation that it will be included but a large part of me was annoyed that, despite a whole album of Uke related songs, Vedder still has more appetite to use them on full band albums. The tracks he's writing with it nowadays don't carry the wit and charm of "Soon Forget"
That variety of attitude detracts from these things altogether - it's no shock that the best tracks from Uke songs were old Pearl Jam songs anyway (Satellite and Can't Keep). He has burnt out that instrument now - there won't be another "Rise".

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Sleeping By Myself is a really good song that I'd be happy to see on any album. I would be OK with 'Ole' as a filler track. Every album has them and 'Ole' was alright, not awful. I guess I'm in a place where any filler tracks are better than terrible ones, so every time they release a song that's OK I like to grab it with both hands.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Plenty of tracks on Uke songs were as good as 'Rise' (a song which was, as you say, full of charm but totally derivative of a lot of other songs). Would you be as unhappy with Ed putting SBM on the new album if he hadn't released it on Uke songs first? I doubt it. When a song's released, you have no idea it isn't years old, and PJ have always used old songs on their albums, as I've said before. It wouldn't reflect anything about new PJ as opposed to old PJ, and certainly doesn't contribute to the 'PJ has changed' theory. I personally saw Uke songs as a bunch of uke songs, some of them song sketches, that Ed might or might not pick up and work on / improve later on. The fact that he released it into the world is peripheral, because for a long time he didn't intend to.OmegaprimeVKM wrote:dimejinky99 wrote:In fairness SBM is a great song and we don't know for certain that it features at all.

Em.. Rise was played on a mandolin, not a ukulele. FYI.

I've got an extended loan of one of EV's ukes, he gave it to glen. They're a beautiful instrument but I prefer the sound from mandolin. It's far more adaptable to music than uke. Think Waterboys/REM. you don't hear uke used in 'rock' music. Whereas mandolins are far more common.

This has to be more than a countdown to an announcement.

I'm kinda hoping its not the whole album released at once tomorrow just to draw things out a little.
Not that I won't be pleased to hear a whole new album tomorrow

Re: Pearl Jam Countdown
I've been trying to issue some restraint, because if I get too excited I'm just setting myself up for disappointment.
But seeing that countdown clock approaching the 1 day mark.. well, you know.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Screw the string instruments. This album better be full of cowbell.
