so far, with 260 pages of speculating, our worst fear is this is just announcing a pj.com redesign and our biggest pay-off would be a new double-album, a two-leg US tour and then a global tour, and lastly temple of the dog collars.

Also, although I never thought I'd say this, I would be happy enough with another album which is at least as good as S/T. Overall I found the quality across Backspacer to be high more often, but I do miss Pearl Jam actually sounding like Pearl Jam.

good call. "sleeping by myself" being included, allegedly, is lame enough.

still can't understand why they would do that.. unless they wanted something just breathe-esque on this album to keep the 50+ crowd interested.

Its always possible, that couldvjust be what they are into now, but i think they will go in a different direction.

Also I have just returned from the Eastern Tennessee foothills from a wedding in a beautiful but secluded location called "Butterfly Gap Retreat"......which I could only assume was named after something to do with vaginas. I drove my trusty VW 11 hours each way. I did much soul searching regarding what I have been withholding from you all during my weekend absence. After spending the weekend with such beautiful and friendly Tennessee locals and friends from all over, I have decided life is too short not to share the wealth. So here you go.....

Also, a double album containing a few Backspacer-style songs would not feel swamped by that kind of song. But a single album would. Not every song on Backspacer was bright and happy, but those took precedent and in the end defined our memories of Backspacer.

There are moments on Backspacer that 'sound like Pj' but its almost like they're trying very hard to do that.

I would have imagined 'sounding like Pj' is something they'd try very hard not to do. Don't understand how they failed so badly at it once they did try it. (Amongst the waves, UK, and further back Severed hand)

Could be that they're worried they can't do it anymore.
