Is this idea a big, stupid waste of time?

I'm gonna add Dev, VinylGuy and LV to the list of participants unless they explicitly state otherwise

You have 2 weeks to watch a movie, it's not like we're all synchronizing our watches and clicking play at the exact same time

And you don't even have to participate with every movie. Just whenever you can

would the discussion begin as soon as the movie is picked, or at the end of the two week window to watch?

I think the discussion should begin whenever the first person who watched it feels like starting it. A new movie is picked every two weeks so I think the discussion should be within those two weeks. Though I suppose it could go on longer if we started a new thread for every new movie... not sure if that's the route we want to go, tho

part of me thinks it would be neat to discuss the film after everybody watches it so as not to be overly influenced by what others are posting, but ultimately that would stretch this out too long

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I'll add him because I think he expressed interest when I first floated the idea. There's not a limited number of seats. Also: anyone can participate in any movie discussion (ideally they will have watched the movie somewhat recently), even if they're not "in the club". This whole exercise right now is mostly to gauge interest, and to get a slot in selecting a movie.

Yeah, this sounds pretty great. I'm totally in. But I'd also like to add that when it's a given poster's turn they can choose to pass on picking a movie. I know my life can get crazy unexpectedly and I'd hate to hold things up if it's my turn to pick and I'm not going to have time to watch the movie and discuss it or whatever.

But, yeah, I love this idea, so I'm in.
