Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
I gotta say -- I'm really glad Soundgarden put out all their proper B-sides on a standalone collection instead of bundling them in with these reissues. A class move. Were there any real treasures on the Superunknown reissue, or mostly just demos and alternate mixes and stuff? I assume this will be more along those lines...

I liked "Kristi" and "Storm" too. I just mean to say, as someone who has precisely zero interest in reissues, I appreciate when bands release their non-album material in one fell swoop. Artists putting them out in small batches as bait to make fans re-buy old albums pisses me off.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
It would have been classier if they hadn't charged $30 a disc and made it such a limited issue that it's hard to even track the damn thing down now, just a couple years after they released it. It isn't that hard to find, but you can't buy it on their website even. Most of the copies on Amazon or Discogs were still at least $60 the last time I checked. Similar products from other artists typically retail at $30-40 new, and cheaper than that.Kevin Davis wrote:I gotta say -- I'm really glad Soundgarden put out all their proper B-sides on a standalone collection instead of bundling them in with these reissues. Other than that I agree with you - but both Echo of Miles and the Superunknown reissue were vastly overpriced if you're like me and still pay for music that matters to you from time to time.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
I remember it being closer to $20 per disc, but point taken. Still, I think it was probably a better deal than having to buy a deluxe reissue of each of their albums in order to collect them all. Shame about the scarcity of it -- I'll consider myself lucky that my wife got it for me for Christmas that first year it was out.

I agree with Matt, the set was in print for an absurdly brief time. I would've bought it earlier had it been made clear just how limited it was. I've had an eBay alert set up for second-hand copies for a year or more and still haven't found a reasonably priced copy.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
Apparently it was only in print for several hours or something. It's called "Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across the Path." The 3CD comprehensive set seems pretty tough to find, but there is a 1CD redux version that rounds up most (not all) of the key originals and seems readily available most places.wease wrote:They did? I've got everything (and more) that's on there except for the unreleased stuff. It's a fan compilation I got years ago. It's like a 6-disc set.
Is the new set remastered?

Storm and Kristi are both fantastic, the former is a new recording of one of their earliest songs and makes me wish they'd hook up with Jack Endino again for a full-length record. It sounds leagues better than King Animal from a sonic perspective.

Yeah, Storm is awesome. The bass, the guitars...and cornell´s howl are dark and menacing. Its such a refreshing performance.Birds in Hell wrote:Yeah, it is.wease wrote:I've got everything (and more) that's on there except for the unreleased stuff. It's a fan compilation I got years ago. Holy crap I can't believe there are people on here who are not aware that a proper version of Kristi was released! Go find that shit, man, it's aces! Didn't realize that Echo of Miles was a limited print at the time. I did the whole re-order thing and paid way too much, I'm sure. For those not aware, the collection is rather nice and the remaster work was well done. Was pretty goddamn cool to hear clean/clear versions of Homicidal Suicidal, Stray Cat Blues, Cold Bitch, Into The Void etc etc. And yeah Storm was cool, too. Kristi was by far the best thing off of that release though.

Kim was on a radio show in LA earlier this week... Announcement is PROBABLY the Badmotorfinger and Ultramega OK re-releases.

Though, if they wanted to throw in some new album news as well... I'd be fine with that.
