I didn't know that Ed played guitar until I saw that Not for You performance live on SNL in '94. I taped that and wore out the VCR. Also made a really bad cassette version and wore that out too, playing it in my car on the way to school. It was kind of a game changer for me in how I thought about the band so my vote goes to that one.

Johnny Guitar 9/26/2009

This show is officially labeled as Portland, but really it was in Ridgefield WA.

The two I probably listened to most in my bootleg tape listening days in college:

1) 4/3/94 Black - Atlanta (* I know a bunch prefer the unplugged version, and perhaps there are better performances in recent years )

2) 3/17/95 Porch - Melbourne - the jam never sounded the same before or after and it was awesome.

But if I had to pick one - I'd pick the 4/3/94 Black

Good thread

Man, that was such an unexpectedly great show. I'm glad I went.

daft twat wrote:I thought Long Road in Chicago 2009 was very moving. I believe it was for a friend of Jeff's who had died. He was even on the awful poster for the show. Anyway, Ed absolutely poured himself into it. I'm sure other performances of that song rank higher (maybe the one he did in S.D. for his theater teacher), but in the 39 shows I've been to, it's the first performance that came to mind.

Probably Even Flow from Uniondale 03. The Porch unplugged might be my single most listened to live performance though.

After some thought I think I have to go with this one, too. This song and performance really changed the way I looked at Pearl Jam.

I think my overall super favorite is probably Eddie's Patriot from the MSG nader rally in 2000, but I don't know that this counts .

Best individual Pearl Jam performance

Just one song, one show.

I think this might be my favorite just for Eddie's passion.

Im kind of partial to Even Flow from the same show just because the stripped down guitars with Dave A and Eddie just ROCKING OUT is SO COOL
