TV: Dexter

Post by BurtReynolds »

After suffering through season 6, my only hope is that the Season 8 finale is Dexter and Masuka teaming up to slaughter everyone in the Miami Police Department.

Whoever was responsible for the brother/sister incest storyline should be fired.

I only saw parts of the premiere last night, but it seems as if it is going to be as awful as season 7.

The premiere was OK and I'll force myself to trudge through this season just because it seems stupid to invest this much time in a show and not watch the final season. But the truth is, I should have stopped watching after the Trinity season.

I had a few good solid laughs at this. The only thing they got wrong is that they didn't put Hannah in a white shirt with a black bra which is the ONLY thing she wore all season.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I actually enjoyed last season. Not really crazy about how this season looks after only one episode.

not sure if you've watched the episode
Spoiler: show
the british serial killer specialist knowing about Dexter seems like it could be another possible re-tread of someone being on Dexter's trail or that she's a killer too

what i mean is that this show tends to start over with a bunch of new plot lines every season, so it takes a few episodes for the viewer to invest in those fresh plots.

I think this one is showing more promise than the last two. That's not saying much, but still.

And for the love of God please let there stop being references to the incest storyline.

Wife watched a few seasons then fell off, I caught a few of those. She queued up the new season premiere last night and I watched for a bit... this is a horrid television show, the acting and fucking everything is god awful.

Sorry, I don't normally slag on things so openly though this series was recommended to me.

right now i can agree, but for at least 3 or 4 seasons, Michael C Hall was one of the best actors out there

I could definitely see that, I know he has the ability. I started watching Six Feet Under again a while ago, have since fallen off, but that was a great series especially Hall.

Hmm, I don't thin it's horrid. Far from it, and acting criticism is subjective. I think the actors do an acceptable job, but not great. What are you comparing them to? I mean, most actors on TV kinda suck. I don't know if the acting has ever really been good on this show. Were the people who play Deb, Quinn, Rita ever considered "good"? They've always been just OK to me.

This season so far seems to be on par with last, and both better than season 6.

I'm not comparing them to other television actors, I'm critiquing their actual performances. And no, with the bits I've seen most of the supporting cast is fairly lackluster. But again, I reiterate that I have only seen sporadic episodes in passing... one just happened to be the current season premiere.

The plot on this show for the past few seasons (well, starting with Travis Marshall at least) has been very transparent and easy to see through. My girlfriend was able to predict the "twist" with Edward James Olmos in the second episode that season.

My prediction for this year:
Spoiler: show
Dr. Vogel seems to be involved in the killings so far. The whole "come to my house, Dexter, I'm frightened...oh, my, is that a video disc? It isn't mine so let's play it!" crap leads me to believe that she is the one running the camera orchestrating the whole thing. Either she is having her patients do her bidding or she herself is the killer. I say Hannah is a former patient of hers, somehow she escapes prison and kills Deb. Dex kills Hannah and finds out Vogel's role and kills Vogel. Someone (be it cops or whoever) become privy to Dex's role, he gets arrested
Sure, that last part would be a downer to have the show end like that, but we shall see. Also, the part about Deb might not be correct either because I had read an article where Showtime execs were big on a spin off involving Deb. In which case I say
Spoiler: show
Dexter dies
