Re: The National
Best lyrics to start an album?
I think this place is full of spies
I think they're onto me
Didn't anybody, didn't anybody tell you
Didn't anybody tell you how to gracefully disappear in a room

Oh God, that's horrifying.Meddle wrote:Alligator turns 11 today. It's still their best album.
But I'm in agreement, besides it being their best. It's a classic, however. The run of records they're on since the Cherry Tree EP is pretty unimpeachable.

Yup. Not so much as even a minor misstep. There is very little separation between Alligator, Boxer, HV, and Trouble.digster wrote:Oh God, that's horrifying.Meddle wrote:Alligator turns 11 today. It's still their best album.

I listened to Boxer yesterday. I had barely listened to anything from these guys before, I liked it a lot.

The "Day of the Dead" show these guys did at this year's Eaux Claires fest was pretty great. Kinda sleepy at times, but that had more to do with a couple of the guest vocalists mailing it in. Berninger and Will Oldham were especially good.

I'll take this opportunity to tell everyone to jump in a car, boat, plane, hydrofoil, bus, subway, tram, or any other means of conveyance to get to the nearest Bonnie Billy show when he comes near your town. Man alive, I saw him once and it was amazing.guestT wrote:The "Day of the Dead" show these guys did at this year's Eaux Claires fest was pretty great. Re: The National
No, Oldham did Bird Song, Ruben & Cherise, and If I Could Give You the World (or whatever it's called), and Berninger did Morning Dew and Ripple.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:did berninger and oldham sing on the same songs? i'm trying to get that sound in my head...guestT wrote:The "Day of the Dead" show these guys did at this year's Eaux Claires fest was pretty great. Oldham's spoken word performances with Eighth Blackbird were a highlight of the weekend. I hope they bring him back for a proper BPB show next year.
